The Blacklist
2007 After the disbandment of the Frontline, Randy Cole formed Orthrus Inc. and compiled a list of the most severe threats to humanity. Everyone on the list was to be eliminated as Shade felt doing so would spare the world from ultimate destruction at the hands of an unknown invasion force. Several individuals on the list were to help Cole accomplish this, but failure or non compliance would indeed also mark them for extinction. (for more information, see The Blacklist)

2011 As a young scientist working in Paragon City, Dr. Theodore Ion was always jealous of the superheroes that surrounded him. Despite his impressive intellect, mastery of science, and multiple degrees to prove it, he was always in the shadow of Paragon's finest. For this reason he elected to work with Scientific Experimentation Research and Application to Paranormal Humans (SERAPH) and help heroes all around the world against the forces of evil. While not a member of The Challengers, he does act as scientific liason to them at times. And, when he can, Doctor Ion lectures at Founders' Falls University.

Donald Fitzer
2011 Donald Fitzer is an Emmy award winning reporter for CNN. He hosts several programs, including HeroBeat, Wake Up, World, Fitzer's Facts, and 65 Minutes with Donald Fitzer. He is very accomplished, despite his incredibly abrasive personality. He tends to fudge the truth on many of his reports to make things sound more interesting. During the Summer of 2011, Fitzer interviewed Rave Spider about his involvement in Guatemala and The Infiltrators. Afterwards, Rave Spider played a practical joke on him in which he spiked his drink with laxatives, causing him to defecate in his pants. Fitzer returned to present live coverage of The Challengers revealing their roster on live television. He was swatted down the steps of Atlas by an impostor Paul Ooshun, breaking both his forearms. He healed and returned to work. At the beginning of 2012, Fitzer revealed that he did cocaine with Tyler Perry and then recruits Blast Cycle as the spokesperson for CNN's anti-drug campaign.
wip
Wai Yu Fat Jr. (DECEASED)
2011 Wai Yu Fat was a asian-american member of Fitzer's camera crew. He usually operated the boom, but occasionally stumbled on camera and asked heroes questions. (Something CNN was not a fan of due to Wai almost incomprehensible accent.) After Rave Spider changed his name to Replacer, Wai expressed interest in becoming a successor to the crime-fighting vigilante called "Wave Spider". Despite his best efforts, the life of a crime fighter was not something Wai was cut out for. After only two days of crime-fighting, "Wave Spider" was brutally murdered by Hellions in Atlas Park. His father is a well known actor famous for his roles in several kung fu blockbusters. Originally named Wai Yu Fat as well, he changed his name to something more American: Jackie Chan.
wip
Zack Todd
2011 Zack Todd is the camera man for Fitzer. He usually communicates solely through shouting because he has permanent ear infections that impair his hearing. Zack is incredibly enthusiastic about his job and loves when he gets the perfect "shot". He also has two first names.

Corradineclass.png
Dr. Corradine
1989 Dr. Raymond Corradine was a brilliant mind in the field of genetics research. His advancements regarding the human genome lead to several breakthrough developments in both the fields of medicine and the military. Such talent was initially recognized by the Malta group, who hired Corradine in order to give them the "leg up" on the metahuman populace that continued to grow exponentially. Corradine's talents were then sought by a specific member of the Malta Council: Countess Crey. The Countess hired Corradine to oversee "Project Labyrinth". What initially began as an attempt to pinpoint the strongest strain of mutant DNA eventually evolved into a project involving the very ambitious goal of reversing Hamidon Pasalima's process of "Devouring". Towards the tail end of his research, Corradine slipped into the throes of madness, following down the very same path that Pasalima did as well. He eventually injected himself with Devouring Earth cells, and planned to sacrifice both Adrian Miller and his brother to the Hamidon in order to restart the organisms process of consuming worlds. The Challengers were successful in stopping Corradine, and he has since confined to Ziggursky Penitentiary, where he toils the day away by tending to small plants while nursing his grandiose notions of revenge and triumph in the name of his master.
wip
MCORP
1989-2003 One of Crey Industries many subsidiary companies, MCORP was a large private military and science corporation that specialized in black-ops using genetic engineering and biological weaponry. MCORP employed a highly trained PMC force capable of rescue, reconnaissance, and para-military operations. Their personal army was used in order to secure and protect MCORP assets, as well as its high profile employees stationed in laboratories all over the planet. After capturing and then creating The Havok Brothers in 2000, they were systematically destroyed by the brothers three years later. Their Antarctic base, codenamed WHITEOUT was frequently used by The Havoks as a secret base of operations. Another base, located off the coast of Rhode Island, was later converted into the headquarters used by The Frontline, and is currently occupied by Longbow.
wip
Jewel of the Cosmos (DECEASED)
2012 A Shivan invader that Countess Crey was able to keep captive for years. The Challengers freed the Jewel of the Cosmos in exchange for information on the Shivans themselves during the "Mass Eradicated" storyline. Before it was able to divulge anything vital about its creators, it was killed by Orthrus 69.

Longbow

Headshot Name Active Since Description
Xeromercclass.png
Xero Mercury
2005 Once a powerful Longbow Warden, Xero Mercury climbed the Longbow ranks until he was one of the top operatives within the organization. In 2007, he was tasked with being Longbow liaison to The Frontline, a newly formed supergroup that operated under government regulations. Xero was close with several heroes on the team, notably Nitedevil, The Havoks and Johnny Turbo. After The Frontline's disbandment, Mercury started to lose faith in the super hero community as a whole. His disposition toward heroic meta humans changed drastically and he became known as someone who could very easily make life hard for you, and enjoy it. Mercury's twin brother, Tyrok, left the Longbow organization in late 2007, and became the villain known as Styng. He strongly believes that if The Frontline had still existed, they could have prevented this. In 2011, he was again tasked with being liaison to The Challengers. This relationship lasted just over two weeks.
Rslateclass.png
Richard Slate (DECEASED)
2005-2011 Special Agent Slate began his career in Longbow as a Chaser pilot. Eventually, because of his remarkable combat skills he was promoted to Special Agent and served among Longbow legends like Indigo and Crimson. Slate was an everyman. He was someone that was easy to rally around. He inspired those who worked with him, and was known as the face of the organization, both publicly and internally. It was Slate who gathered together the remnants of The Infiltrators, and coerced them to work together with Xanatos and "infiltrate" The Olympiad. Unknown to the would-be Challengers was that sometime before their first meeting, the super villain known as Decieter had killed Slate, and assumed his form in an attempt to lead the heroes to their doom - all on behalf of Phanto.
Dukokclass.png
Agent Dukakis
2006 Agent Dukakis started in Longbow as a member of the Spec Ops division. He was eventually made the assistant to Agent Slate. During Longbow's assault on Athena's Island, Dukakis had his face horribly disfigured by Athena's dark matter blade. When Slate was revealed to be Deceiter in disguise, Dukakis took over his position as one of the commanding members of Longbow. His relationship with the Challengers started off good, but they had a falling out after the Challengers went on an unsolicited rescue mission into a different dimension to save Voltium. Dukakis pulled all Longbow backing from the group and broke their alliance. When Exadeus took over Strongwall Penitentiary, Dukakis called for multiple air strikes on the prison despite the fact that a team of Challengers were trapped inside. Xanatos, Charon, Paul Ooshun, Luficia, and The Human Flashbulb stopped him from making this crucial mistake, but their relationship is far from fixed.
Barghestclass.png
Captain Barghest
2005 Captain Bass Reeves Barghest is perhaps the most feared and respected individual in the entire Longbow organization. Bass came from humble beginnings, overcoming life’s difficulties by boxing. He was a champion in the making, but his career was cut short after losing his right arm in a car accident. Outfitted with a cybernetic prosthetic, Bass could no longer box professionally, as it was against the rules and would give him a major advantage over his opponents. Bass turned to law enforcement and became an officer for the PPD. He was eventually recruited by Longbow and became the hardened Captain that he is today.
wip
Abigail Slate
2009 Abigail Slate is the niece of the late Richard Slate, one of Longbow's finest heroes. Abigail was always in the shadow of her uncle, which never bothered her. He was, after all, a great man. However the circumstances revolving around his death marred his legacy. While Slate was not entirely at fault for what happened, the atrocities committed were done so in his name, a name Abigail also shared. Since his death, Abigail has made it her crusade to return the name of Slate to something she can be proud of, and something people can once again look up to.

Orthrus 69
2007 Orthrus 69 is really named Clyde Raines. A former detective in the Paragon Police Department who went rogue using his precise shot as an archer to fight crime. When he realized his skills could not make a difference in the world by himself, he sought a way to be a part of something bigger, but not as bureaucratic and red-tape filled as the police. Shade found his vigilante antics to be impressive enough to bring him into Orthrus Inc. as a soldier. They replaced his outdated equipment with pistols, and he continued to exercise sharpshooter qualities.
Orthrusclass.jpg
Orthrus 84
2007 Orthrus 84 is a sharpshooter, Olympic gold medalist and former hero Blue Aero - real name Sam Tord. He was recruited by Shade who briefly worked with him in The Squadron of Power. Along with his guise as the Blue Aero, Tord worked undercover as a villain in the rogue isles called Specter-Shot. When a legitimate villain used the same name and costume, Tord was mistakenly arrested. He was freed by Vanguard who wanted to use his abilities in their organization. Tord was unable to get out of the Vanguard so his death was faked with the help of Shade. He has been working with Orthrus for the last 4 years and was trained as a Grunt Unit. He has traded in his bow for a high powered precision combat rifle.
Orthrusclass.jpg
Orthrus 206
2007 Orthrus 206 is a member of the heavy gun division in Orthrus. He's an expert sniper. His real name is Jax Kilroy. Before Orthrus, he was a servant in Lord Recluse's Arachnos army. He wanted to get out of Arachnos when his conscious got the better of him. He and his squadmates were ordered to open fire on a group of children. He would not obey the order and his squad turned on him. He fought back, killing his former allies and rescuing the children. He took them to an Orphanage on the Rogue Isles (which has since relocated to the outskirts of Paragon). He was approached by Mr. Shade who was informed of Kilroy\'s actions. He offered Jax a chance to make a difference in the world by joining Orthrus and becoming an agent of order. He uses a modified Arachnos Spider Pack.

Cerberus Guard
2011 The Cerberus Guard are Mr. Shade's three personal bodyguards. They are the most elite units within the Orthrus organization. Unknown to The Challengers, The Cerberus are actually clones of Blue-Havok. The Challengers uncovered an Orthrus cloning facility during their final encounter with Shade, and shut down the cloning machines. However the Cerberus were created even prior to Red-Havok's return to Paragon in early 2011. The Challengers first faced off with a Cerberus Guard member when they rescued Azure Tracer from the clutches of Shade and his new ally Cutter Reznick.
wip
Cutter Reznick
2011 Former ally and comrade of Azure Tracer, Cutter has apparently been driven mad by his time on Primal earth. Crazy as he may be Cutter is a formidable foe and while it appears that he is currently working for Mr. Shade its obvious his loyalties are elsewhere making him a dangerous loose cannon.

Niteworx

The Ace, Nurse Nightingale, Exit, Wildcard, Tripwire, Raindance, Rollcage
2007 When Orthrus Inc. was first created, Randy Cole assembled a unit of its finest individuals. These men and women were Cole's first attempt at The Infiltrator initiative, but were not named as such. He called them Niteworx, and they became Cole's greatest weapon in the war on crime.

Niteworx was given too much freedom, too much leeway. They began to go rogue and started taking things for themselves. Money, weapons, and even lives. They should have known their actions were always watched by Cole. The group was far too powerful to confront head on, so Cole devised a false operation with intentions of sending the group to their deaths. Cole was successful, or so he thought.

Niteworx had survived, but they chose to allow Cole to believe them dead until the time was right. When his replacements were chosen, Niteworx took great offence and assisted super villain Phanto in obtaining The Blacklist. They also gave Phanto secret information on how to access The Shadow House. With this information, Phanto had Orthrus 8, Gregg, assassinated by Decieter (who has since posed as Gregg), and manipulated Cole with one of Phanto's illusion control devices. They were also responsible for the misuse of Havok's fission reactions.

The Squadron of Power (DISBANDED)
2006-2007 The Squadron of Power was formed in 2006. The group was created by three heroes. Valorian, a magically imbued powerhouse. Star-Sentinel, a street level legacy hero, and former member of The Defenders of Paragon. Finally, the cosmically powered Piscis rounded out the triune. Their first core member was none other than the elusive Nitedevil. Nitedevil had worked closely with the group but eventually parted ways a year later after convincing The Havok Brothers to form The Frontline. The group folded soon after. Nitedevil still kept close ties with the group. Star Sentinel was even considered for Project Osiris. Pisces was killed in action when battling blacklist villain Star Scythe. Valorian joined The Frontline during the group's final days, but after his disagreements with Nitedevil and the disbandment of the group, Valorian went into semi-retirement. However, he continued good works through philanthropy as his alter ego Xander Von Awesome.

Cyborg Sinister (DECEASED)
2005-2011 Victor Berman was a Council soldier who was injured and left for dead by his squad mates after Citadel sent a group of heroes to assault their base. His remains were picked up by Crey Industries who were experimenting with human cybernetics under the CYBERMAN program. His DNA was not as compatible as they wanted and he was abandoned in favor of US Soldier Skylar Grayson. When Grayson, now known as Cyberman, fought against his captors and destroyed their facility Berman escaped and with his new abilities overthrew a portion of the Council army to form his own cell. The soldiers under his command pledged loyalty via mind control chips. Later, he replaced nearly all human troops with "cybersoldiers", who much like himself were a fusion of tissue and steel. He sought the Warcry AI in order to better control these troops.

On his quest to destroy all life on earth, The Infiltrators tracked Sinister to Guatemala. It was there in an ancient Mayan Temple that Sinister made his last stand against the heroes. Following the epic battle, he was executed by Red-Havok.

2011 Amon Aser is a wealthy psychologist, philanthropist, and CEO of Styx Industries. He was a primary benefactor in the Boomtown Reconstruction effort and the Atlas Reconstruction project. In early 2011, Amon Aser purchased Strongwall Penitentiary from Longbow and used his psychology background to turn it into a rehabilitation center for dangerous supervillains. He foolishly enlisted the help of Exadeus so that he could build a portal to a different dimension to hold dangerous inmates. Exadeus ultimately betrayed Aser, manipulating him and forcing him to have Johnny Turbo committed to Strongwall. Exadeus then used Turbo as bait for the other Challengers, whom he trapped within the prison and used the portal he was building for Aser to access the Dark Matter Zone and become incredibly powerful. The Challengers ultimately defeated him, stopped his plan to invade Paragon, and escaped, defaming Aser and destroying his prison in the process.

Jenna Faris
2011 Jenna Faris had a wonderful life... up until the point where her father ruined it. Being the daughter of Kellon Faris was a hardship she had to endure for many years. Knowing that her father, a once brilliant and kind man had turned into a monster was something incredibly difficult to deal with. When she came of age, Jenna took legal actions against technology giant Crey Industries in an effort to reclaim the rights to her father's inventions. She argued that her father should be considered legally deceased after transforming both mind and body into the villain Exadeus. After a long and grueling legal process, Jenna won the battle and all of Kellon's intellectual property was now hers. She gained not only wealth but fame from the events. Amon Aser, founder of Styx Industries had shown an interest in Jenna because of her lineage. He was a dark matter enthusiast, and recruited her to help him rehabilitate criminals. While Aser's intentions were dark, Jenna genuinely wanted to assist Aser, thinking one day the work she did for Styx Industries would help rehabilitate her father.

Baron Blitzman
2004 Nicolai Furst, aka Baron Blitzman, was not always the powerful speedster you see before you. Originally, Nicolai was a small-time crook that utilized a "Zapp Gun" to harness his own innate ability to control electrical charges. (For his own powers were too weak to function on their own.) His criminal career lasted only a couple of years before he was beaten and arrested by the superhero Xanatos during a failed bank robbery. After his arrest Nicolai was left to rot in the Ziggurat and was largely forgotten to the superhero community at large....

But Baron Blitzman is forgotten no more! The purple headed menace is back! Broken free from the zigg by powers unknown, Baron Blitzman is now on the warpath. His powers or speed and lightning much greater than before, he has only one man lined up in his sights: Xanatos. Target #1.

Chimera II
2006 Chimera II is the "padawan" of the Praetorian Manticore: Chimera. Much like his mentor, Chimera II is lacking any true superpowers, preferring to rely on his own skills of espionage, stealth, ninjitsu, and swordsmanship to take down his enemies. His weapon of choice is the ninja blade, a weapon Xanatos has often been on the receiving end of. The two first came to blows in 2006 during The Rogue Isles' initial assault on Siren's Call, and they would face off several times in the months that followed. When Xanatos was kidnapped by The Dark Dominion, Chimera II was one of the villains responsable for guarding him. When Xanatos and Karnal Sin led a rebellion against the Dark Dominion's leader, Overseer, Chimera II was the first villain to help them defeat the cruel despot. (Although it was Inertial who ultimately killed him.) When Karnal Sin took over control of the Dark Dominion following Overseer's death, a love triangle developed between her, and the two men fighting over her: Chimera II and Xanatos. It is because of this that Chimera II is still one of Xanatos's greatest enemies. Chimera II is currently somewhere in Europe. his exact location is unknown.

Sovereign
2002 A time-travelling metahuman with the power of energy control and super strength from the year 5054AD, Sovreign is every bit the arch-enemy of Xanatos's former group The Defenders of Paragon. Sovereign first came to Paragon in 2002, intent to wipe out The Defenders shortly after they were founded in an attempt to stop their 5054AD incarnation from halting his plans for future domination. Despite killing many members of 2002s roster of The Defenders, Sovereign was ultimately defeated. He has shown up several times since then, mainly due to the machinations of his side-kick the superscientist "Tactic" freeing him from the Ziggurat. One of Xanatos's greatest foes, Sovereign is every bit the big bad. He is currently being held in the Ziggurat.

Vegas
2003 Tony "Vegas" Almoni is a former sin-city mob boss-turned-necromancer that was killed back in the 1970s. Since then he has returned from the dead, fully zombified, and is the self-appointed head of the Undead Mafia in Paragon City. Within every dead criminal in Paragon City Vegas finds a potential new recruit. His army of zombie thugs, while dim, are huge in number. He first fought Xanatos in 2003, and has remained a persistent member of his rogues gallery ever since. (Mainly due to no prison being able to hold the undead menace.) He is currently one of the mob bosses in control of King's Row.

Jungle King
2006 Francis Tarrington was a former animal rights activist who protested heavily against big game hunting. Realizing that his concerns fell on deaf ears, Francis took it upon himself to fight for animal justice. He became a vigilante whose obsession with revenge went too far after murdering several individuals involved with the sport. Tarrington was branded a wanted man, naturally, but became a man very hard to capture. He applied the same tactics used by hunters to evade the authorities, and became something of an urban legend. Soon, it was up to organizations like Longbow to attempt to bring the man in. Seeing as how the very men and women who claim to be heroes were now against him, Francis now considered them prey. He became the Jungle King, and vowed to hunt down and kill those who threaten animal life, as well as those who do not stand up for it as he does. (Represents Leo)

The Eleventh Man
2012 Scientist, inventor and philanthropist Hector Vega was researching a cellular duplication device, to aid in the field of medicine. On the cusp of success, the machine overloaded, catching Hector in a devastating explosion. The machine's energies and ripped Vega to pieces, he died instantaneously. Or so it was thought. The power shock wave from the machine had indeed dismembered the man, but it also imbued his body with the very powers he tried to harness. Each piece of Hector's body grew, into a full and complete version of himself. There were now ten copies of Hector, each sharing the same, fragmented mind. While his body, and several copies, were complete his mind was broken, and so it would remain. He called himself the Eleventh Man, and turned to crime due to his severe insanity. (Represents Gemini)

wip Tyrok Mercury is the brother of Longbow Captain Xero Mercury. Unlike his brother, Tyrok is not an upstanding member of society. Instead he chose to become his brother's opposite. Once a Longbow Operative himself, Tyrok felt he could do more by taking matters into his own hands. With The Frontline gone, Tyrok began a series of assassinations on important targets in various criminal organizations. This of course went entirely against Longbow protocol. When his brother discovered this, he had no choice but to blow the whistle on Tyrok, causing a major rift between the brothers. Tyrok has since become known as Styng, a deadly assassin for hire who has still managed to evade capture to this day. He will kill anyone for a price, including his own brother. (Represents Scorpio)
