Character Description

Psychology

Beargrox is extraordinarily apt at handling a variety of challenging situations, adapting to difficult or stressful environments, and employing quick and clever thinking during tough moments. Due to his Police and SWAT training, Beargrox is a highly effective law-enforcer and soldier. Though he has not had any form of para-military training, his skills as a soldier combatant are exceptional, even surpassing that of fully trained military personal: due to SWAT's position as law-enforcer and not judge and jury, SWAT officers are trained not to take lives, but to save them. Where a soldier would simply aim and fire at an enemy combatant, a SWAT officer must have authorized use of deadly force before they can shoot. This authorization is invoked by either the imminent threat of harm to a hostage or civilian, imminent threat to the Officer's own life, or imminent threat to the lives of his team. This has shaped Beargrox into becoming an exceptionally fast-thinker, able to make life-and-death decisions rapidly and effectively.

Being a beast such as he now is, Beargrox has undergone radical changes in his perceptions of both the world around him, and of his place within it. One area in which he seeks psychological improvement, is his handling of close personal matters. Though he has come to easily accept his bestial complexion, he has difficulty in engaging close personal relationships with others: from simple friendships to romantic attachment, Beargrox is still trying to figure out how to silicate friendly acquaintance given his current appearance. Empathetic to others who share similar complexions, or visages that set them outside of the norm of social appearance, Beargrox often feels the acute sensation of isolation when in crowded places within Paragon City. Within the Rogue Isles (or the special inter-dimensional nightclub known as “Pocket D”), Beargrox feels more at ease, as though the unique or special properties of those who surround him in such places (whether they be mutated creatures or physically altered science-experiments gone wrong or anything in-between) in turn makes his appearance easier to accept as normal. Being fortunate enough to have a bestial complexion without any physical deformity makes his position a little easier to deal with, however he still feels for others the loneliness that he felt when he was transformed.

Physiology

Over six and a half feet tall, and weighing nearly 700 pounds of lean muscle, many within the superhero, or super-villain community could call Beargrox' transformation lucky. Having been a bodybuilding strongman even before his transformation, physical aptitude has always been an inherent part of his lifestyle. Beargrox' muscular definition is exceptional, even visible through the short, bristly fur and hair that covers most of his body. The few palpable areas of bare skin have a rough texture, less like human skin and more like the soft pelt or hide of a animal; though the dense muscle beneath the skin removes any sensation of softness that might be felt. Rugged and strong, Beargrox is well protected from non-meta threats, easily dealing with petty thugs who rely on melee weapons in combat.

Beargrox' head is, when reduced to the simplest terms, a cross between a bear and a wolf. The incomplete War Wolf transformation be underwent reduced the potential length of his snout, giving him a more bear-like complexion, though he still possesses long, pointed-ears akin to a wolf breed. He has a wide-jaw and a strong chin, and two long fangs that protrude from his superior row of teeth. Along his jaw and chin he has a short, trimmed beard, and on his head and down his back he possesses a slight Mohawk hair style. With brown eyes and dark brown hair, Beargrox has a monotone complexion, yet one that is readily bestial all the same.

Extended History

Youth and Pre-Paragon Years

Bjorn Ox Grant was born and raised in Big Timber, Montana. During his elementary years, he showed average learning capability and tended to lean towards sports as a hobby. In his middle-school years, he showed an avid desire to become a football player and strongman, and by the time he was in his first years of high-school, he was a renowned school champion of both those sports. By the end of his second year of high-school, Bjorn became interested briefly in committing to the Reserve Officers' Training Corps in his collage-years, but after a few months of consideration he decided to opt for joining the police instead. Following his second year of high-school, he earned his GED and entered collage two years early. In collage he studied law and health sciences, while at the same time taking part in a two-year police training certification course.

His interest in sports remained, but as he no longer had the time to commit to team-play, his interest in athletics gradually shifted from football to weightlifting. Already recognized for his powerful muscular visage, Bjorn became recognized further still as his collage's reigning strongman champion for the duration of his time there. By the time he turned twenty-one he had earned a bachelor’s degree in Law, a minor in athletic-medicine from a degree in kinesiology, and had spent two years on the local police force as a patroller. It was during this time that Bjorn met his first superhero.

Arrival in Paragon City

One of Bjorn's fellow officers was Derek Bronson, a thirty-two year old police officer who had worked been on the force since he was 21. Unknown to everyone in the city however, he was also a superhero known as “The Blizzard Bringer”. Though he was not the most creative with his superhero lingo, Bronson had a distinct attribute that made his lessened creativity a null factor: he could manipulate ice, conjure cold winds and summon blizzards with no more than a stern thought. Through no-one's fault but his own, Bjorn accidentally interrupted Blizzard Bringer during a heroic bust of a small down-town drug deal and was quick enough to catch a glimpse of the hero that revealed the man's identity. Easily persuaded to keep Derek's secret identity a secret, Bjorn was simply told of Paragon City, and its strong hero community. Derek, seeing a great deal of potential within the massive bodybuilding police man, suggested he should go to Paragon City, and learn for himself a world that was vastly different than the one he had been raised in. Less than a month later, and Bjorn arrived in Paragon City by train, and found that he was indeed in a world substantially different to the world he had grown up in.

A Non-Meta Living in Paragon

After arriving in Paragon City, Bjorn went to City Hall, to become acquainted with his new home—though he was at first mistaken for an early super-hero due to his beyond-normal physique. However he quickly found work at the local police station, and within a few short weeks he was recommended for SWAT training. By now he was 22 years old, and already on his way to becoming a member of SWAT. During his training and early assignment, Bjorn was admitted into the Hand-to-Hand, Climbing and Repelling, Leadership, and Rifleman Sharpshooter cadres.

Bjorn, on-duty with his SWAT squadmembers, preparing for entry and providing cover with a shield.
When he turned 24, he was a fully trained and active-duty member of SWAT, and within another year he was promoted to Element Leader. Had it not been for the excessive need for skilled policemen and SWAT operators Bjorn's progression may have been more gradual, but with the significant amount of crime taking place across the city, Bjorn found himself a valuable asset; treated as such with advanced training and immediate promotion.

At 28, four years after becoming Element Leader for his squad, Bjorn was accepted into Paragon City's D-Platoon, and for one single year he was amongst the top-respected officers in SWAT. Soon after a year had passed, SWAT's D-Platoon was given the location of a Council Production Facility, mandated by the Council to produce an experimental variant of a super-serum that likely combined both the serum itself, and the as of yet unknown process for producing the monstrous War Wolves. Going into the underground facility with superheroes at their side, D-Platoon and its heroic allies stormed the facility. Fortune was not on their side however, as it was revealed that Noseratu himself, the genius of the Council's super soldier program, was personally overseeing the production of the new serum. D-Platoon found themselves fending for their lives as their superhero escort was left helpless from the Master Vampyri's powers, and Bjorn himself was separated from his fellow officers.

Transformation

D-Platoon and its meta-companions were kept alive, thrown into cells as the production continued. Bjorn was eventually discovered, but fought back his captors with finesse. The room he took shelter in was storage space containing vials of the experimental super-serum, and unwittingly he was exposed to the serum itself—the shattered vials and their contents making contact with the many lacerations he sustained in his efforts, which caused the serum to enter his bloodstream. Though he was eventually surrounded and overpowered by his assailants, a keen interest was shown towards his physical prowess and skills. Selected without consideration, Bjorn was to be made an unwilling slave to the Council by undergoing the mysterious process that would transform him into a War Wolf. Ignorant of the fact that he had an experimental drug coursing through his body, the Council prepared him for the mysterious procedure. The process was interrupted as backup arrived. A team of superheroes swarmed the facility, and this time they were not suppressed by the Council defenders. The production facility was set ablaze, and Bjorn, D-Platoon and their original superhero escort were rescued just in time. Bjorn was unaware of how close they had been to meeting with destiny, as the incomplete procedure had drained him of willpower, and he fell into a coma.

It was a month later when Bjorn re-opened his eyes, and discovered with shock that he was no longer the man he used to be. Yet, at the same time he recognized many features. So to did he realize that his strength had been heightened to meta-levels, but most important of all, he recognized that his thoughts were his own. A resident genetic researcher and scientist of Steel Canyon University and a consultant from M.A.G.I. Were there to help Bjorn rehabilitate, and come to understand what his transformation meant. Not knowing the exact nature that produced the Council's War Wolves, it was unknown as to how Bjorn should be treated, and thus it was determined that the situation should be waited out. For nearly six months, Bjorn lived in hospital rooms and research labs, all the while coming to terms with his gradually shifting bestial visage. Though the shock of no longer being human (or at least, as human as he had been before) was a significant and traumatic issue for him, he also realized the benefits of such a position that he found himself in. When it was eventually determined that there was not only no way to reverse the process, nor way of knowing whether it was a permanent change to his physiology, Bjorn came to the decision that such circumstances should not be put to waste. Adapted to his half-shifted form, Bjorn set out to find a new place in the super-hero society.

Society Re-Entry, and Becoming a Superhero

Bjorn was troubled when he first re-entered public life. His time on D-Platoon had earned him many successes, and from that he had also earned several commendations and some press-footage. His former members of D-Platoon were there to greet him, as were a very small number of reporters, and Bjorn was disheartened when the response to his new appearance was one of trepidation and uncertainty. Though his comrades welcomed him back into the world, they did not do so with open arms. Bjorn found himself being neglected in communities and on the streets. He took temporary lodgings at a Mutant Control and Rehabilitation center, where he spent time becoming further accustomed to the social-challenges he now realized existed for him. The physiological change that the incomplete War Wolf transformation had caused was so great that Bjorn had to re-learn how to perform many functions, such as verbal communication, finger-dexterity, and even how to walk properly; though this latter issue was made less difficult from his having naturally been of a muscular disposition, and being quite knowledgeable of musculoskeletal anatomy.

It was then a month after leaving the hospital, and Bjorn decided to act; to change the way the public now perceived him. Though he was still respected for his past deeds, Bjorn was not going to let himself become a social pariah because of his new appearance. Thus, he went to the Superhero Registrar, and was accepted as a Hero Initiate, with permission to patrol the streets until he was deemed 'safe'. Though this degree of bias towards his origin made him somewhat irritated, he accepted the reasoning: until it was certain that his condition did not result in mental deterioration, he would have to protect others from himself as much as protecting them from criminals. As he filled out the necessary paperwork to become a registered superhero, he considered a name. He decided based on all the experiences he had endured since his transformation, that he was no longer Bjorn. He was someone, or something completely different. He eventually settled on a name he had once come up with when he was a youngster, and registered his name as “Beargrox the Beast”. In recognition of his new identity, Beargrox became his new given name as well.

Life as a Superhero

Security Level: 1-20

Focusing on the city districts of Galaxy City and Atlas Park, Beargrox spent most of his time helping other new heroes combat the criminal population that had so swelled within the city. Taking advantage of the chaos caused by the Rikti Invasion, and the occasional disturbances caused by trespassing villains hailing from the Rogue Isles, criminal forces such as the Hellions, Trolls, and Outcasts took to the streets. Promoting anarchy, violence, theft and senseless vandalism, the criminal infestation would have long ago over-powered the valiant heroes who defended the city, if it weren't for the new wave of heroes that surged into Paragon. Bearnard felt proud to be amongst these new defenders, and for a while he employed his skills and strength successfully in defeating thugs and petty crooks. As his foes grew stronger, so to did he—but eventually he moved on to more dangerous city districts such as Steel Canyon and Talos Island, and began encountering foes that he could not defeat through physical power alone.

Security Level: 20-40

To aid in his battle against super-powered criminals within Paragon City, Beargrox collected himself in preparation for a renewal of old acquaintances, and went back to his old station headquarters for SWAT's D-Platoon. It was somewhat difficult to meet old friends and comrades whom he had trusted with his life, and whom had frequently trusted him with theirs—yet being unable to associate with them in the way he once had made him feel isolated and bitter. No harsh words were spoken, yet no condolences were given. In light of his new hero status, he was respected by his fellow officers, but alienated as well. His meetings went well however, and within several weeks he was well-armed and well-fitted to combat criminals who possessed super-powers. For several months he fought criminal organizations such as the Circle of Thorns, the Freakshow, and the Council, taking particular pleasure in defeating the latter. Traveling frequently between Talos Island and Independence Port, Beargrox found his experience soaring, as he learned more and more about the various factions fighting for control within the city.

His armaments served him well: high-powered assault rifles, advanced and experimental anti-material sniper rifles designed to penetrate even the thickest armor, and an extremely varied assortment of gadgets, tools and equipment designed to affect an entire battlefield made him a resourceful and proficient neutralizer of criminal threats. As his talents grew, so did his former methods of dealing with deadly situations. His SWAT training began to take hold of him, and he began employing various tactics designed for dealing with specific threats amongst the criminal ranks he fought. “Be a one-man team” became his motto, and though he frequently stood beside fellow superheroes in teams designed to neutralize greater villainous threats, he often used his resourcefulness to alter the field of battle in favor of his meta-companions without their even noticing. Distinguishing high-priority targets became his focus, and his skills as a sniper grew.

Security Level 40-48

Advancing to a security level of 40 meant new responsibility for Beargrox. He now considered hunting gangs and villain groups such as the Freakshow and Council little more than sport, while taking on battles with powerful super-criminal organizations such as Nemesis, Crey and Malta became much more standard for him. His skills as a long-range combatant had been proven beyond a doubt—he could fight well beyond the usual distance most of his hero archetype preferred, yet from that range he was still capable of dealing significant damage to his enemy's ranks, taking down high-profile targets from afar. His distinguished style made him wonder about his position within Paragon City, and though he knew he was talented both alone and as part of a team, he also knew that his skill could be applied elsewhere with greater gain. Using old connections, Beargrox gained transport to the one place that no hero dare strayed unless they had a death wish, or held a vengeance more powerful than death: The Rogue Isles.

Beargrox arrived in St. Martial, and immediately went undercover as a rogue War Wolf. It lent him some degree of anonymity, which was only strengthened when he purchased a false threat identification card from a prison guard at the Zigursky Penitentiary. Registering himself in both Hero Corps systems as a Hero, and the Longbow Villain Database system as a villain gave him total access to both Paragon City, and the Rogue Isles. Close connections he had acquired during his years on the force and as an early superhero helped him maintain these separate aliases, so that there would never be any confusion as to why a registered villain was in Paragon City—or why a hero was foolish enough to be present in the Rogue Isles.

Currently, Beargrox spends the majority of his time in either Paragon City (Peregrine Island primarily) or the Rogue Isles (Cap Au Diable, and occasionally, Grandville). He has been known to frequent the interdiemnsional dance club known as "Pocket D" from time to time.

Gear

Weaponry

  • M4 Carbine, ACOG 4x
Weighing just 5.65 pounds unloaded, the M4 is a lightweight, shoulder-fired .223 caliber carbine with less-than-lethal capabilities; these are extensively utilized against enemies to who regular rounds would prove lethal—and in a City of Heroes, where the objective is to defeat rather than to kill outright, less-than-lethal capabilities are highly regarded and approved. Mounted on the upper-right side of the 14.5 inch 1/7 twist barrel is the Surefire Millennium M500A flashlight system, utilizing a wireless on/off pressure switch fully integrated into the M4's hand-guards. Mounted on a standard M4 with backup iron sights (themselves in LAPD SWAT standard configuration, with A2 back sights and Novak tritium glow-in-the-dark front sight configuration) the 4-x ACOG uses dual-illumination technology to provide precision sighting in all lighting conditions. Trijicon's ACOG – Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight – is the sighting device of choice for the Navy Seals, Army Rangers, and Green Berets. Fully loaded, this configuration weighs 10.08 lbs. (4.6kg), and has a 300 meter maximum effective range.
  • MP5A2, Aimpoint
A select-fire submachine gun, the MP5A2 is default chambered for pistol-size JHP and FMJ 9mm cartridges. Like his primary rifle (the M4 Carbine), Beargrox' MP5A2 has had a customized firing chamber and barrel installed, allowing the submachine gun to boast less-than-lethal capabilities. With a sustained rate of fire of 800 rounds per minute, Aimpoint's Comp M scope with backup Novak tritium “glow-in-the-dark” sights and a dedicated Surefire flashlight system, the MP5A2 is the ultimate in close quarter battle weapons; considered the world's preeminent submachine gun, this LAPD SWAT configuration favors the high-strength polymer A2 'fixed stock'. The MP5A2 weights 5.0 pounds (2.3kg) unloaded; 7.05 lbs. (3.2kg) Loaded.
  • AS50
The Accuracy International Anti-Material Sniper Rifle, named “AS50” for it's manufacturer, class and caliber, is a modern development in long range combat, and has been tested by US SOCOM and the US Navy Special Operations Center. It proves combat operators with highly accurate and rapid aimed fire at extended ranges, built around gas-operated, semi-automatic single-rear locking action. The two-part receiver is machined from high grade steel, with a free-loaded barrel fitted with an effective muzzle brake. The easily detachable buttstock is fitted with a recoil-reducing buttpad, as well as a folding rear grip that also serves as a rear support leg for prone firing. The top receiver is equipped with a full length Picatinnytype rail, which accepts any compatible scope mount; two additional rails are mounted on either side of the short handguard and barrel jacket. Due to its devastating capabilities, Beargrox has had his AS50 customized to accept bean-bags, capable of rendering non-meta suspects unconscious or incapacitated with a single shot within 100 meters. Further modification includes an extended box magazine allowing for extended firing duration, and a 6-x ACOG Scope. It can be brought down to basic sub-assemblies within three minutes. The AS50 weighs 31.0 (14kg) pounds unloaded; approximately 40 lbs. (18.1kg) Loaded.
  • NLAW
Used predominantly by Army Forces in Sweden, Finland and the United Kingdom, the Next-Generation Light Anti-Tank Weapon is a single non-expert soldier approved weapon with a range of up to and beyond 600 meters. It's primary payload is a single anti-tank missile, integrated in a reloadable launcher. Specifications include Predicted Line of Sight Guidance, Fire and Forget tracking reliability, Overflying Top Attack and Direct Attack firing modes, an un-jammable proximity fuze, and very high SSKP (Single Shot Kill Probability). A night-vision system is integrated with the scope, and the missiles themselves are IM-classified (Insensitive Munitions). Designed for all climate conditions and environments, its operational temperature is -38 to +145 degrees Fahrenheit. The NLAW weighs 27.5 pounds (12.5kg), unloaded. Acquiring this expensive and powerful piece of hardware through Black Market connections in the Rogue Isles (themselves acquired by investigating arms dealers through PPD Criminal Records), Beargrox saves the missile system for situations that are beyond his capabilities of dealing with. Highly effective against armored targets, Beargrox is fond of using the NLAW against robotic threats, or units that are heavily armored or stationary.
  • Taurus Manufacturing 1911-A1
Chambered for JHP and FMJ .45 caliber ammunition, the 1911 is the standard issue and the secondary weapon of every LAPD SWAT officer. Modifications include match barrel, aluminum trigger, beaver-tail grip safety, combat hammer, beveled magazine well, extended thumb safety, polished feed ram, throated barrel, high visibility 3-dot Novak fiber-optic sights, and a Surefire tactical light assembly. Due to the highly-lethal capabilities of the .45 caliber round, and the non-existent less-than-lethal potential, Beargrox rarely uses his sidearm unless facing imminent threat of his own life, or against super-powered criminals whom he knows can take the punishment. Fully loaded, this configuration weighs only 3.78 lbs.

Primary Equipment

  • Electrokinetic Particle Projection Intensifier (Energy Manipulation)
Experimental Technology designed for applying kinetic force, the Particle Projection Intensifier is a project sponsored by a joint Heroes Corps-Longbow venture. The Particle Projection Intensifier (or PPI) can accelerate atoms at extreme velocities, and bind them together through supercharged neurons. This allows for the creation of energy based projectiles, which saves money, and is an extremely efficient method of dispatching criminals. Acquiring the plans for the device from Hero Corps, Beargrox consulted with professors at Steel Canyon university to create a portable version of the device that projects kinetic energy with extremely high force at very short ranges. This allows Beargrox' strength in melee combat to intensify though an increase of force delivered for every punch he throws.
  • Electrokinetic Stabilization Unit (Energy Manipulation)
Based on the same technology as the PPI, the Electrokinetic Stabilization Unit proves stability for simple and effective long-range functionality; the device applies radial force to an extended combat system, such as a rifle, granting short-term stability which increases accuracy. Upon sensing a high degree of energy release, typically from the firing of such a rifle, the system can then apply a burst of kinetic energy to the projectile fired, enhancing the velocity with which it travels through the air and increasing the projectile's penetration abilities.
  • Flashbangs
Also known as noise flash devices, they produce a loud noise accompanied by a brilliant flash when discharged. Used to draw a suspect's attention away from an entry port or to disorient a suspect, the flashbang is an essential element in a tactical officer's arsenal. The flashbang is a class 'C' non-ejecting sub-munition with a delay of 1.2 seconds between detonation and discharge. Within a five-foot radius, the sound level at discharge is 175.6 bd's; the light-level is 2,550,000 candelas. The duration of the explosion is 10 milliseconds.
  • First-Aid Kit
A standard issue army-style field kit for protecting wounds and repairing injuries, the First-Aid Kit comes with the recently developed Cellular Regenerator to repair cells damaged or lost, as well as an Epinephrine Autoinjector to revive others from severe trauma and shock. The First-Aid Kit also contains mundane medical supplies such as gauze, bandages, Antiseptic and Antibiotic Ointment, and Hero Corps Approved “Super” brand Analgesics.

Secondary Equipment

  • Handcuffs
National Institute of Justice approved, the combined steel and lightweight heat-treated aluminum alloy cuffs weigh a mere 4.66 ounces. All edges are rounded to reduce injuries and abrasions. In respect to the often super-powered criminals that Beargrox faces, the extension capabilities of the cuffs have been expanded to allow for proper securing of suspects who may be greater than average human size or shape. All handcuffs Beargrox carries have had a Rikti-technology based transporter signal device installed into them, so that Hero Corps or PPD forces can easily extract the incapacitated criminal to a jail cell; though some more clever villains (usually of a more powerful threat classification) can potentially intercept the signal, and teleport themselves back to their own base before they ever see the inside of a cell.
  • Tool Kit
Standard issue for all tactical officers is the compact multipurpose Leatherman folding tool, the “Wave”. Made of 100% stainless steel and weighing just under seven ounces, the folding tool includes; needle-nose pliers, wire cutters, hand-wire cutters, clip-point knife, diamond coated file, wood saw, scissors, wire stripper, and extra-small, small, medium and large screwdrivers. Designed for one-hand access, all blades open individually, lock in place and unlock with the push of a button. Vulcanized rubber reduces risk of electric shock when utilizing the Wave near machinery or electrified defenses. The folding tool grants Beargrox extensive access to all kinds of entry-prohibitions and stored mediums, whether they be reinforced doors utilizing locks, combination safes, file cabinets, mainframe drawers, or locked chests.
  • CS Gas
CS, which stands for 0-chlorobenzalmalononitrile, is a white solid powder generally mixed with a dispersal agent (such as methylene chloride), which carries the particles through the air. Physical effects of CS gas are felt almost immediately. Symptoms include severe burning and involuntary closing of the eyes, copious tearing, extreme burning in the nose and throat, coughing, lowered heart rate, and raised blood pressure. The tactical grenade contains 26 grams of CS agent. The tactical grenades compact size allows for easy carry and quick access, making it a potent weapon for any team member or individual officer.
  • C2 Explosive
C2 is a composite explosive containing approximately 85% RDX and 15% non-explosive plasticizer. C2 is effective in temperatures between -70 and +170 degrees Fahrenheit. C2 has a rubber like elasticity and is probably the most important high-brisance explosive. It's brisant power is owed to its high density and high detonating velocity. C2 is very stable, insoluble in water, sparingly soluble in alcohol, ether and benzene, and soluble in acetone.

Clothing and Accessories

  • Nanotech LCD “Eye-Lens” HUD Unit, Throat-Microphone/Earphone
Developed by a joint Hero Corps and Longbow initiative, this contact-lens sized piece of Nanotechnology provides real world information by way of a heads up display system. Through a series of receptors and sensors incorporated into the officer's clothing, the officer's vital functions and environmental surroundings are monitored. As changes are perceived, electronic signals are sent to small microprocessors, which translate and project the information onto the LCD lens. For effective communication, Beargrox' throat-microphone and earphone combination allow for easy command and response, and precision hearing. Utilizing an extraordinarily sensitive sonic-amplification unit embedded within the microphone, Beargrox needs barely speak at all in order for his voice to be picked up and transmitted to his technologically equipped team mates. At the same time, a wireless processor sends data to his Nanotech HUD, allowing him to perform a multitude of tasks exclusively using voice commands.
  • Modular Load Bearing Tactical Vest
Standard issue Safariland's Cover Six Plus tactical vest takes its name from the old SWAT slogan, “cover your six”, meaning cover your back. The outer-shell is made of 500 denier Cordura nylon, and the interior is constructed of a IIIA protection Spectra/Kevlar ballistic blend. The entry vest provides full front, back, and over-the-shoulder coverage, as well as side torso protection. Inside each front panel is a large pocket into which an extra entry plate is inserted as the vest is donned. As the front of the vest is overlapped and zipped up, the plate is centered on the torso. The entry plate is body contoured and constructed from a polyethylene fiber made by Allied Signal. Entry plate weight is 4.5 pounds and will defeat 7.62x51mm NATO (.308) full metal jacket ammunition and similar rounds such as the .223 and 7.62x39mm, as well as soft nosed expanding rifle bullets. Overall weight of the Cover Six Plus is 16 pounds—however, due to Beargrox' extremely large build, the combined weight of the expanded pads and vest itself is approximately 63 lbs.
  • BDUs, Tactical Gloves, GSG9 Tactical Boots
Worn under the Tactical Vest, Beargrox' BDUs are tactically-effective, and made of the fire retardant material Nomex. They are based off the same pattern used by SWAT's D-Platoon, and offer protection to the officer's extremities when encountering chemical and gas explosions. In respect to his law-enforcement and SWAT origins, Beargrox has had them dyed police navy-blue. The GSG9 Tactical Boots are created and named for Germany's famed counter-terrorists organization, and are worn by security forces the world over. Made of water repellant leg material, with middle foot and lateral ankle support, along with firm rubber soles, the GSG9 comes in black only.
