The Tragedy of Dark Thread

In the Beginning...

Dark Thread began life as Nathan Derose, growing up in the safety of Paragon City. As a normal child with no superpowers or abnormalities, Nathan looked on with awe as he grew up watching the superheroes keep Paragon safe. Like many children growing up in Paragon, young Nathan hoped to one day be able to work with the superheroes he looked up to. Thanks to the efforts of these superheroes, he was able to pursue his studies without fear or worry, and soon found himself pursuing a masters in computer science, specializing in robotic research.

Love at ε2

During Nathan's masters studies, a girl named Sarah was working towards her physics degree. The two met through friends and quickly became inseparable. The couple dated until graduation, and both Nathan and Sarah were sought out by Crey Industries recruiters. Hoping to find a job he could feel good about, Nathan convinced Sarah that they should take the research positions offered to them by the recruiters and build devices and tools that could help the heroes of Paragon City.

Eden

Before moving out to the Crey Industries research campus, Nathan and Sarah were married. The campus provided by Crey was their first home together.

Affiliations

Dark Thread is, by nature, a loner. However, he has been known to work alongside Ivory Pyre on occasion. This is most likely due to their common hatred of Dr. Vahzilok.

Personality

Once a shining example of a Graduate student, working alongside some of the brightest minds of this generation, Dark Thread's mind and soul has been shredded just as much as his body. All that remains is his burning hatred and desire for revenge.

Powers

Originally, Dark Thread began with a single drone built from the scraps he scavenged from his Crey Industries lab. Eventually, through numerous raids against the Crey and other groups, his armaments grew to a total of three of these drones, two defender robots and a single behemoth battle robot.

As the dark energy surrounding him became more infused with his body and soul, Dark Thread found that he could manipulate the dark magics into a variety of forms.

Dark Miasma

Over time, Dark Thread discovered he could use the dark magics placed within him to subtly affect the magic plane. After intense focus and training, he found he could pull the very life from his enemies, using it to heal himself and nearby allies. As he explored the dark realm within his mind, Dark Thread also gained the ability to conjure a dark servant of sorts. Whether this is a separate entity he summons or merely a projection of his darkest side is unknown.
