Defamer is Static One's main villain, created on a whim to satisfy the player's desire to have a character who is useless at just about everything. His goals: the downfall of the Freedom Phalanx, and just about any other person who has 'slighted' him in the past. This includes his parents, people he went to school with, the girl down the road, his doctor, the old lady next door, and just about everyone really. But mostly the Freedom Phalanx and the rest of the superhero population in general.

Personality

Defamer is a sufferer of 'little man syndrome'. He hates being overlooked and pines to be the centre of attention. This causes a slight conflict within himself given that he can't actually take responsibility for anything he does unless he wants to sabotage his own designs. Also, in contrast with his brilliant technical mind is an utter lack of social ability and understanding. A life spent under the thumb of an overbearing mother AND grandmother has made Defamer's abilities in social situations - particularly with members of the opposite sex - an awkward mixture of disdain drawn from his opinion of his female relatives, and bad innuendo when faced with a woman of even tolerable good looks in bad lighting. His attempts at company parties have previously been described with colourful metaphors including that of "A train wreck in slow motion."

Despite his being a legal adult, Defamer sounds as though he's not yet finished puberty, his voice still being oddly high pitched and crackly for a man his age. Anyone who draws attention to this goes on 'The List'. 'The List' is quite long, and as yet, no reports have been made of any vendettas actually being acted upon.

Abilities

Mind Control

Defamer is a master hypnotist and uses his skills, combined with a not-quite-so-masterful talent for disguise and an abominable level of acting in order to confuse and distract the public into thinking that it is a prominent hero figure performing all his heinous crimes. It works...if the person in question has never actually come into contact with the hero he's portraying before, and is not in possession of an above average IQ.

Psychic Blast

Not actually being in possession of any super powers, but unwilling to give up the idea that he might develop some to wow his peers with at the next Con, Defamer squints malevolently at anyone he is unable to fool with his disguises in the hope of manifesting telepathic/telekinetic powers and causing some severe damage to their minds. As of yet it hasn't worked, but he quite often makes the person he stares at very uncomfortable, occasionally giving them a slight headache.

Equipment

Defamer has a phenomenal amount of technical gear, gadgets and disguises of his own design that he uses to carry out his crimes. Among these devices are a pair of rocket rollerskates utilised in his Synapse costume, jet boots for when maneuverability while masquerading as Positron, night vision goggles, skeleton keys, a shoe phone which also plays AM radio, a dart gun, and a variety of other stupid doodads.

Defamer still owns most of the clothes his mother picked out for him but they rarely get worn given that he uses his disguises almost exclusively for both work, and oddly enough when he's at home. Its not uncommon to see him washing the dishes while dressed as Synapse, or sitting in front of the TV in his Sister Psyche outfit. Perhaps wearing these costumes gives him a feeling of power, or maybe he's just weird.
