Character History

Early Life and Mutation

Olivia Payne was born a true mutant at birth, born with a biological fusion reactor heart that produced a highly radioactive biochemical fluid as her blood stream. Growing up Olivia's Father tried to keep her mutant status hidden from Olivia and others. At the age of 5 while in pre-school playing with the other children, Olivia recieved a simple cut to her knee, exposing her radioactive blood to the other nearby children. Many children and school faculty began getting violently sick and the school was quarantined and eventually evacuated by the Paragon Hazardous Material Team. After many tests finally revealed Olivia to be one of the Nuclear 90, Paragon Officials found the only way the girl would be allowed access around other civilians was if she had to wear a protective bio-suit to prevent her blood from ever interacting with the public again. Wearing this suit over the next 11 years lead to Olivia being teased and picked on constantly by most students, while being shunned by the rest. Shortly after Olivia's 16th birthday and tired of never being allowed in public without a containment suit, Olivia decided to sneak out of her house in a dress, wanting to attend her classes soph hop dance. At the dance, Olivia was picked on viciously by the "normal" kids and embarrassed in front of her entire class. Upset and wanting to lash out, Olivia took a dinner knife from a table and thrust it into her own forearm. Severly bleeding from her arm, Olivia suddenly found she could manipulate and control the radioactive material to her will, she then chose to irradiate the entire gymnasium the dance was being held in and began to melt the school down. With several students instantly dead and many others sick or dying of radiation sickness, the Paragon authorities had little choice but to sentence the teen as an adult and put her in the mental ward of Ziggurat Prison.

Life in Prison

Olivia spent the next 4 years of her life in Ziggurat Prison. Olivia was considered a threat and isolated from the prisoner population for her entire stay. Being isolated in a special cell where she couldn't do harm to others, Olivia spent those 4 years finding ways to master her ability to control Radiation. This proved tough for Olivia, because she had no way of projecting radiation on her own without constantly doing harm to herself to access her radioactive blood. If Olivia was going to control radiation on a larger scale, she was going have to find a creative way to produce higher doses of radiation. Also while in prison, Olivia did extensive book research on radiation and its many effects to better her understanding of controling it. One day while in her cell, Olivia recieved word from a corrupted prison guard that Arachnos was going to be attempting a massive prison break, taking key prisoners with them back to the Rogue Isles. The guard then told Olivia that Arachnos would set her up in the isles, give her access to scientists, and technology that could help her reach her full potential, all that was asked of her was the price of doing an occasional job for Arachnos. Olivia agreed without hesitation and 2 days later was free from Prison and flying to her new home in the Rogue Isles.

Life in the Isles

Once established in the Rogue Isles, Olivia began running odd jobs for the highest bidders including Arachnos. Frustrated at not being able to use her mutant gift without doing harm to herself, Olivia began seeking ways to harness and project the radioactive material from her insides to use as a weapon. Olivia, now taking the name Duchess Destructo, began "aquiring" technology from different sources. One of her biggest scores were components of a prototype Apex Titan the Malta group were working on. With these new parts, Olivia worked with several Arachnos and back alley scientists creating a suit that would allow her to siphon out her internal radiation and project it through vents throughout the suit. Now having a constant supply of Radioactive Material at her disposal, the Duchess now has her ammo to control to her will. Since her time on the Rogue Isles, Duchess Destructo has made many enemies (Crey and Malta Group in particular due to the stolen technology she "borrowed" from them) and has made her way rapidly up the FBI's Most Wanted list. In late 2006, Duchess Destructo was labled a Weapon of Mass Destruction after an incident in a Paragon City Bank went badly and Duchess Destructo took out an entire city block to escape authorities.

Prisoner of Nation

With Olivia gaining to much attention and adding fuel to the anti mutant fire, Agony of Nation attempted to contact the woman and promise her a new life if she could follow Nation's laws. Olivia gave her answer in the form of attacking Agony, before she could do any serious damage to Agony or her surroundings, Agony used his mental abilities to put the Duchess to sleep. Once on board Nation, without her suit, and held in stasis. Agony tried to again reason with the woman that she could lead a great life with Nation, but after finally entering her mind, Agony saw there would never be any chance of reasoning with someone so violent and damaged. Fearing for the state of Nation and secretly not wishing to part with a very powerful LTR-5 (See Longbow Threat Rating) rated mutant, Agony had Olivia imprisoned on Nation's prison deck, an act that was only known by his trusted Archon's.

Escape from Nation

On Christmas Eve of 2007, Olivia was presented an opportunity to escape her cell when a lonely Sychosis entered the prison decks looking for a friend after most of her only friends left her and the station weeks before. Olivia sensing Sychosis was vulnerable, played along to please the child minded "daughter" of Agony. Patiently playing along, Olivia finally tricked Sychosis by telling her she thought she saw wrapped gifts in the station's airlock. Sychosis, so eager to believe it to be true, ran off to find these hidden gifts. Once Sychosis was in the airlock, Olivia sealed the station side door and told Sychosis to just stay put til she was off the station. Enraged at the betrayal, Sychosis began to use her telekinesis to try to rip through the airlock door to prevent Olivia from leaving the station. Without a second thought, Olivia activated the outer door and watched as Sychosis was sucked into the void of space. Feeling a minor moment of regret of killing someone who was trying to be kind to her, Olivia shrugged to herself and went to find her Titan suit and made her way to the spacefold to the Rogue Isles where she remains again at large.

Personality

Olivia to this point has been pretty much a loner in the Rogue Isles. She has little regard for life if it happens to come between her and getting what she wants. After years of emotional abuse as a child, Olivia tends to get aggitated if she believes someone is making fun of her. She has been thrown out of Pocket D many nights where she assumed customers were laughing behind her back, even if it wasn't the case. When Olivia becomes aggitated her unnatural green eyes begin to flash and glow more intensely.

As Duchess Destructo, she is very protective of her battle suit and will put other teammates in danger if she feels her suit could be in jeopardy. She has been known to leave other villains on their own if it meant a clean escape for herself. This has caused her to gain a bad reputation with other villains, which she'll just shrug off and call them weak for getting themselves caught.

Powers

Bio Radiation

Duchess Destructo's internal organs and blood stream are made of a highly radioactive material that is produced by her biological fusion reactor heart. If she becomes cut and her blood is exposed, anyone in the near area that is not immune will begin to suffer from radiation sickness.

Radiation Control

Duchess Destructo has high levels of control over all types radiation and can form radioactive clouds to do as she wills. When in her battle suit, Duchess Destructo always errects a radioactive shield around herself. This shield is strong enough to melt down most metal projectiles that are thrown or shot at her including bullets, knives, and most arrows.

Radiated Vision

At will, Duchess Destructo can change her vision to peer through objects just like an x-ray would.

Teleportation System

Some of Duchess Destructo's "borrowed" technology also gave her access to tap into most teleportation systems and lets her use them in a limited function.

Bio Titan Suit

Duchess Destructo's Battle suit allows her to siphon her internal radiation and project that radiation around herself so she can use her ability of control over it. Olivia has 2 implants on the back of her shoulders where the suit can dock and begin siphoning the radiation her biological fusion reactor heart produces. If Duchess Destructo's battle suit is damaged, she begins to panic and will usually teleport away to a safe house of her choosing til she can get repairs and get her suit back online.
