"History is simply the roadmap to the future,
its course is forever set, unchangeable.

"The present is the existence of the now,
always squandered with plans for later.

"When the future becomes the present,
we often wonder how it could be changed.

"In the end, the future is never set,
a malleable metal in the hands of the Fates."

Leomaris Sterling, now known as Leomaris the False, was a former security contractor that had been hired to work as a double agent for Paragon City. Her original intent had been to infiltrate the world of Arachnos for the advantage of the heroes. However, her role was later uncovered when she had fallen into the web of corruption that lurked within the heart of Grandville. After her fall, she had faced betrayal by those that had once called themselves her allies. After her punishment that left her disfigured, she served a painful penance under the command of the forces of the Mu.

Offered a new lease on life, she was granted a second chance by an unknown source. Her war of revenge has stretched to Arachnos and those that formerly worked with her in Paragon City. Her exact agenda has long been questionable given her mercurial nature and behavior at times. The former Widow's focus on Arachnos has shifted of late as she has become more personal-based adventures. It is said she has accepted the nature of Arachnos as a required 'darkness' to the 'light' of Paragon.

OOC: Fate exists as a character caught between a case of divided loyalties. She never fits within the scope of a true villain or true hero. As a former hero, she has seen things committed on both sides that causes her to see people by the nature of their deeds and actions. No hero is immune to mistakes, nor a crusading villain claiming they are fighting for a better world. She was created as a RP concept that fit within the moderate-scope of both sides. It is rumored that she is very active dealing with both factions to achieve whatever plan catches her fancy. The character has a blue-side counter part, but if it is her or a shadow from another dimension--she's never spoken the truth on that matter to anyone.

Affiliations

In order to breed new strength, old orders must be swept away to allow for those selected by the higher powers to take their role. Through either her own belief or prophetic visions, Leomaris has begun to follow affiliations that seem to align with her eventual goals. Her main concern is the eventual fall of Arachnos--not necessarily the power struggler to follow.

Super Groups

Super Group: Rogue Knights

From the organized ranks of the Knights to the chaotic nature of the Terror Legion, the Rogue Knights are led by Lord Grae. Leomaris originally began with the Terror Legion. At first seeking her own agenda, she had been held to the group only by a common alliance with others seeking their way in the Rogue Isles. In time, the mission of the Rogue Knights revealed to follow her own goal--the destruction of Lord Recluse and his rule through Arachnos. While her motivation is revenge, the universal goal is the same.

Individuals

Lord Grae The overall leader of the Rogue Knights, Lord Grae remains the unifying force in a world where chaos and internal divisions often mark the progress of organizations. Fate has come to accept his role within the organization as mandated by a higher power and holds no question in regards to the overall agenda of the Knights' missions.

Miss Semper Fidelis A member of the Paragonian Knights, this young telepath has drawn an unexpected interest on Leomaris' part. While she rarely goes into the details, it seems that the situation has evolved through a series of visions or insights that have emerged. To date, neither have met.

Personality Profile

Fateshandwiki.jpg

She represents a classic archetype often found in the old vanguard nobility of Britain. A scion of one of a house dating back to the Norman Conquests, the Sterling family had long lived in the public eye combating the constant attempts to transform the monarchy into a republic. Leomaris holds to the concepts of divine right of leaders appointed by fate--with a catch. A leader is required to continue to improve themselves, not rest on their laurels. If another can remove their superior through intrigue or violence, then the new commander has been tapped by the higher powers to replace one who has fallen from worth. This Darwinist outlook has colored a code of tight loyalty to an accepted leader, unless proven unfit through an actual coup by another. Despite a natural arrogance, she has shown a tendency to accept defeats gracefully. As part of the obligation to improve, one must accept that there are times when one must step aside or submit to a higher power.

Originally focused on the destruction of Arachnos, her goals eventually changed over time after her experiences with the upper-ranks of the organization. After her involvement with the Project DESTINY, she has become more focused on the efforts of the Menders that have set their attentions to repairing damage to the timelines of the past. While still bound to her own views, her vendetta has been replaced by a view of letting go of those that had sold her out while working with the heroes to move onto things more progressive. What her eventual goal, however, still remains cloaked behind odd actions--some have whispered that it may be more a case that she seeks a purpose now that her former cause has been broken by Lord Recluse's actions.

Character History

Sterling Origins

Leomaris Sterling was born in London, England on October 31, 1974. The daughter of Count Justin Sterling of Halington, she was raised within the political and public eye. An ancestral legacy dating since the founding of Parliment had seen the Sterlings as established members of the House of Lords. With the reform acts over the last half century, the Sterlings had often remained at odds with the attempts on the part of the Labor Party to reduce the power of the old nobility. This impact on the early part of her life would cement her squarely in the camp of the Monarchists and a firm believer of a 'divine power' controlling the appointment of leaders and world figures.

Her education followed the standard course of many well-to-do families in modern-day London of the times. Private tutors and prep schools would pave the way for her later years at Oxford. Her studies were focused in areas of etiquette, history, and general politics. Through her father's political career and constant conflicts, Leomaris was quick to learn how to deal with public scrunity and current events. The fickle nature of the media was something wielded between both sides of the exchange in the fiery debates between Reformers and Monarchists alike over the years.

Over time, however, her family's role within the public eye began to fade as Reformists saw the eventually change of the House of Lords. From the 1950's onwards, the composition of the House would eventually evolve from a hereditary system to one known as Life Peerages. The Sterling family was eventually removed from its position within the Parliment through the efforts of political opponents of her father's old-fashioned viewpoints. In many ways, despite the decline, Leomaris seemed to have accepted the quieter life-style that would come to follow. After completeing her education in prep schools, she would later enroll in Oxford and reside in London apart from her family's estates in outlying Halington.

Her time at Oxford would shift her education for politics and government to a new route. As with many younger artisocrats, the interest in the New Age had grown considerably. Rather more arcane or occult pursuits, Leomaris had begun to follow the theory of human advancement and evolution theories. Mental arts and 'sixth-sense' perception through training, rather than 'magic' practices had caught the eye a smaller crowd. The perception that will and focus, rather than the whim of a fickle fate, could allow things such as precognition or foresight took hold. Debates were common between both factions within the underground factions at Oxford. Overtime, a passing fancy, however, would come to prove a reality.

Her exposure to the alter-perception training had allowed for the development of low-level insights. Easily dismissed by some as simply luck or good guesses at times, a chain of concidences began to follow her. The aspect of her insight that drew the attention of various parties was the ability to research local infrastructure and preceive potential points of weakness. While in her junior year in Oxford, Leomaris was soon offered a potential contract with a security firm known as Iron Fortress.

Based in London, England, the firm had gained a foothold in the field with the rise and slow acceptance of super-powered humans. As various public-funded and 'volunteer' groups were getting established, the firm had begun to venture in the area of contracting such figures. While not as flashy as well-known fire-wielding mutants, Leomaris would soon move on from college to take her place as a security consultant and contractor. Dubbed as Custodian, she slowly developed a reputation as one of the few non-mutant or arcane meta-humans of her time.

New Foundations

In time, Iron Fortress had began to develop its reputation and expand into international holdings. Paragon City, RI, had begun to emerge with a reputation for its large meta-human population and finaicial potential in the corporate world. Different ventures had shown success in the field of business that the company had sailed into in their own country. A team was dispatched allowing for the formation of a small office within the city's Steel Canyon section.

Leomaris was among the first that were dispatched to test the waters of the market for new ventures. Direct competition was immediately fielded from groups such as Crey Industries and Heros Corps. Rather than seek out larger companies in the beginning, the company extended methods such as electronic and standard security services. Smaller companies and family businesses were among the first that signed into the service. Their method would prove successful when the first contracted teams were dispatched from London to support the new office. Internal security teams were paired with response teams to utilize the new network that had been established. Utilizing a blanket contract fee, the company's meta-human security would respond to alerts in already established contracts.

Popular with the smaller businesses, the company soon became entrenched despite attempts by Heros Corps to discredit or legally close the firm's attempts. Rather than continue to pit against the new office, the local firm quietly agreed to a new approach. With the British firm's focus on monitoring, the Corps own meta-humans would assist with response teams. The joint venture would come to allow the two groups to profit without damaging income for either side. Leomaris' role would evolve from a single contract to observing for potential incidents to the various contracts held. The demand for her increased involvement would further serve to enhance her own abilities.

After several attempts to raid various targets within Paragon, Arachnos had set their sites on finding the leak that allowed prediction of their strikes. Rather than an internal matter, Leomaris was suddenly under the attention of the Fortunata ranks.

Fall into Shadow

Fatewikiimage.jpg

Quiet offers had begun to come through unexpected sources. Leomaris was quietly approached through messages and calls about her services. In many cases, the matter was dismissed until the names Arachnos and the Rogue Isles began to slip into the conversations. The mystery would yield something far larger than a rival corporation seeking to buy out an employee.

This interest drew the attention of the city offices of Paragon City. As the offers continued, a detective on the force approached the city with an idea to attempt to gain a link into Arachnos under their control. Leomaris was suddenly presented with an order from her own employer to accept the shadowy offers. To her surprise, the city investigators had created a contract with Iron Fortress in order to secure her services. Her choice in the matter had been reduced to a simple offer--accept and follow through, or find a new employer. The intent of the plan was to gain a loyal seer on the inside of Arachnos' elite. Leomaris quietly accepted the offer and was later relocated to Grandville in the Rogue Isles.

Her case would prove an unexpected rise to power. Rather than endure the brutal 'boot camps' or times as a Blood Widow, the woman was granted the rank of a Fortunata Fateweaver in her first days among the group. Her quick rise appears to have generated considerable discord within the order. It was said when she was employed by Arachnos, the newly-dubbed "Fates' Hand" met with immediate disapproval by Recluse's personal seer, Kalindra.

In her intial days, it was suspected that she would hold back information due to her former loyalties. Watched by the Seers, she slowly began to provide insights of a limited nature. These visions, however, began to intensifiy slowly as her superiors began instructing her through the training she had missed by her rapid ascent. The process proved the concepts of her youth were correct--intense mental training and stress could evolve a regular human to skills usually seen only among those of the meta-humans.

As her insights began to evolve, they seemed to follow the line of her inital gifts during her time in Paragon City. Her clues offered leads to strikes led by the forces of the heroes against Arachnos installations. The investment seemed to yield only a 'risk management' or defensive seer which often fell to the second class ranks among the Fortunata. Disappointment and pressure was expressed given the resources expended in attempting to bring her into the fold initially. The drive to avoid this fate began to lead her to gain the hunger of those of the spider's web--to thrive, rather than survive. Falling into old patterns from her time in London, she fell quickly into the political games of the organization.

Leomaris began to enhance her abilities through the use of focus items. Different artifiacts were said to litter the market of the underworld of even the Rogue Isles. These items reflected a secondary ability--a latent strain of Mu bloodlines running through her veins. Not on par with a full mystic, her former disdain of the dabbling "New Agers" would become a new advantage as she discovered the ability to employ relics to further her visions. Her innate potential served to humble her initial arrogance among the different meta-humans that were employed in the organization as she found herself 'one' of them. But, the added tools increased the information she was able to yield to compete in the cut-throat world of her peers.

Her insights increased in use to the chargrin of her rivals that had gained ground quickly in her early days. Leomaris had continued to keep her employers informed, but slowly became wrapped in the web of the organization in time. The heights of power would soon become dangerous when pitted with others that had risen from the ranks of the Blood Widows. While equal in insight and foresight, her own lack of skill at the martial arts would put her at a disadvantage. Politics and intrigue were encouraged, but rules existed in any game--and Leomaris would prove herself willing to cut through those boundaries to press higher into the ranks.

In order to discredit others above her, Leomaris turned a potential danger into an advantage. Insights provided by rivals were channeled to her employers to aid in their attempts to combat Arachnos. The information was controlled to cause the visions of her peers to seem flawed or false. Her mission for Paragon would come to aid in her ascent as she gained status in drawing out others. The efforts fell into the most taboo crimes within the organization, tampering with intelligence meant directly for the Arbiters--thus Recluse himself. Visions among the Seers was considered direct property of Lord Recluse, her steps along the abyss would prove the seeds of her eventual downfall.

False Prophet

Conflicting visions among the Seers had brought in Arbiters to sort out the disruption of information. The matter was further compounded when Kalinda arrived with the investigators. Familar with the limitations of Leomaris' own abilities, Kalinda had her brought in with others that had fallen or been cast out due to her methods. A crystal relic was produced and the suspected Seer was forced to repeat many of her own prophecies that had been submitted to the higher ranks. Known as the Event Horizon, the crystal's internal 'line' would react similar to a heart monitor to determine if a prophecy was true or false. The words she was called to repeat for the process were those produced from her service records.

The night would soon stretch into a memory of agony the woman would never forget. Discovered to have twisted or submitted false visions, she was taken into custody by the Arbiters for questioning. At the approval of Kalinda, her interrogations lasted for several months as the crystal was a constant presence in those sessions. Each prophecy she had submitted was put to the test with one of two results possible: a truth would yield less pain when she was left after a questioning, a false or twisted prophecy was rewarded by a night at the mercy of the interrogation machines as punishment rather than settings to extract a confession. The process had conditioned an innate fear and hatred of the Event Horizon over the course of her detainment.

Her capture would pose a legal issue in Paragon City as Iron Fortress was quick to confront their client. The case was brought forward of who would bear the costs of the extraction. During her interrogations, the case would fall into the legal arena of the courts with various parties within Paragon insisting funds should not be allocated for a 'hero-for-hire.' As the conflict was stalled in the courts, Leomaris was kept updated on her legal status in the city as her 'review' was continued by the Arbiters. It would be a conflict that would leave her to those she had been hired to combat--and a long memory of revenge for the future.

Fate's Hand's case was overseen by Lord Recluse himself when the exact damages the rogue had caused came to light. Once her interrogations and confession had been extracted by the Arbiters, it was considered her 'trial' had been concluded. There was little defense to present in the end. Recluse's words to the disgraced Seer were brief, giving little clue to her actual fate:

"Your eyes have seen the truth that could have led many to greatest. Yet, your heart was blackened with treason. Your words spoke poison to those that called you sister. You were deceived by those that would lead us astray. Thus, you could not help yourself. Thus, the minion shall be shown a degree of mercy... you will not lose the prievelege to serve those that you betrayed.

"In ancient days, preventive measures were taken to help those that could not help themselves. Since you refused to use your gift for others, the future is removed from you sight. The light of the horizon will no longer be yours, nor shall the right to lead others to the future. Silence shall be your reward for injury caused by your deceptions."

Leomaris would come to bear the name of Leomaris the False in the course of the public trial in Grandville. The event had been broadcast throughout the various monitors in the heights of the command center of Arachnos. The exact details of the sentence were never communicated via the feeds. But, would be left for others to witness after she had been punished via Arachnos for her 'sins' against the organization.

The Arachnos medical corps were employed for the sentence to be carried out in a 'creative' fashion. The Marshal overseeing her transfer had informed the surgeon in charge of the statement by Recluse. Leomaris had been allowed to hear the instructions on the matter--in whatever method the surgeon felt would fit the sentence. Granted, the aftermath was to be easily visible to others to help them think twice about following her path. To her regret, the surgeon in charge of her case would soon prove to be very creative indeed.

Her new captor, known simply as Lancet, had studied the feeds of her trial for a while to create something fitting. Utilizing Arachnos technologies, the surgeon had settled for a progression of punitive surgeries to target the areas needed to 'literally' carry out the words spoken by Recluse. A skillful lobotomy was conducted to target the areas of her mind that were determined to trigger her foresight and visions. To ensure the process was complete and visible, Lancet arranged for a successive surgery to render her blind. It was said true insight lies within the eyes of an oracle. Her fate was fully sealed when she was silenced via similar surgeries. The remains of her eyes and mouth were crudely stitched shut by surgeons as a public reflection of her fate.

Hammer of the Mu

Fatepast.jpg

Leomaris was cast aside once she had met her fate. Ruined beyond use to the Arachnos forces, she had been offered to the current patrons of the organization. An unexpected mercy was extended in the form of the figure of Scirocco. Unknown to the former Seer, she was to be salvaged in some form for the fate of being cast to the streets in her present form. Transferred to the Mu, an attempt was made to employ her in some method for Scirocco's on plots in the future.

Arcane and science arts were employed to restore her to some form of function and use. The Mu accomplished this matter through direct infusions of ancestral blood to trigger the latent potential within. The infusion would allow her to control the inner arcane arts that had been granted to her. Arcane lightning and focused energy would allow her to serve as an enforcer for the Mu. Her sight was restored through the use of an enchanted plate that allowed her to perceive mystic leylines and energy signatures.

Renamed Fatebreaker, she had begun display her own agenda and goals as the Mu began to utilize her to combat rogue mystics among the Circle of Thorns. Her benefactor would contine to go unknown to her as she quietly went about her orders in the beginning. The Mu in charge of her assignments would explain that faithful service would pave a way for a potential redemption. But, the devious Seer would have to serve her public penance in the eyes of Arachnos for a time.

As her service continued, her own fury over her fall had begun to interfer with her coopreation with the Mu's agenda. As expected, their creation began to turn rogue and pursue her former masters. Arachnos and various groups within Paragon City became a target as Scirocco stepped aside. Rather than a quiet, gradual groveling into the good graces of Arachnos, it seemed she held an another agenda. Various artifiacts began to disappear from both sides including the Event Horizon and the Mu relic known as the Chains of Destiny. Over time, she would begin to exhibit the mark of destiny that was known to be unlocked in the Destined Ones once a certain mark in their road was reached.

New Visions

Leomaris' agenda was cut short during an attempt to disrupt an operation on the part of the Seers. The rogue weapon had been watched for sometime for potential betrayal and she eventually followed the predicted path. Someone acted on the advise of the Seers from within the Rogue Isles. However, who that party was would never be revealed to her. A trap had been set up for her in a building in Aeon City. Originally, it should have been little more than search and gather job. Her hunter had begun to leak word of a relic that was central to Project DESTINY. Once in the main part of the building, she had come to find a trap set up for her benefit. Her last memories of what would change her life forever was a gas that rendered her asleep in short time.

After awakening after her capture, she had found herself held within a deserted base. The prison she had been held within had been designed to inhibit her arcane infusions--also serving to effectively blind her artificial vision from the Mu plate. Those that met with her were little more than shadows with her limited vision as her captors proved to have an unexpected offer.

Her furor against Arachnos and the agencies within Paragon City had been allowed to grow during her sentence. The party that had captured her had arranged for her to follow a sequence of events to the moment they had currently met. In the days that followed, a confusing spiral of events were revealed to her allowing the path from her disgrace to their meeting to show to be part of a charted course. The one that held her held a similar hate against Recluse and his organization, one that existed long before the rise of the current patrons and his coup within the organization.

A path existed within the lines of fate that would produce a sequence of events that would allow a final vendetta. The Arbiters worked to keep events from allowing the organization from spiraling into chaos and disrupt its balance. That path, if taken, would allow for the disruption of the organization's hold over the Rogue Isles--and permit others to attempt to take the 'throne' from the leader himself it was stated. That path, however, would be for Leomaris to find.

The offer appeared to be one that she would be unable to refuse. After the discussions, she had fallen under some influence. When she had awakened, she had found herself in a far different situation than the base. Her vision had been restored in full by some unknown means. When she had gained her bearings, she had come to find herself known as a Blood Widow called Sabyon on one of the 'training' islands for the Arachnos soldiers. Her questions were put aside quickly as she would soon find herself starting among the ranks of the common soldiers, a path she had originally been allowed to escape.

Spoiler warning: Details about story arcs or other game content follow.

Stolen Mantle

Her time within Arachnos proved to be short. With her arrival on Mercy Island and processing, Leomaris was quick to fall in with those that sought to strike out against the influx of Destined Ones. Granted, most saw it as a simple title, for her, it was something more. Kalinda was among the first to detect the alterations in the records that had allowed an unexpected development. Leomaris had indeed managed to return to a form of a Seer--and a vengeful one at that. The matter was further complicated, however, when her name would come to appear on the lists of the Destined Ones.

Leomaris was quick to break from the ranks of Arachnos once more. She would come to find shelter among the chaotic ranks of the Terror Legion established under the rule of Lord Grae's Rogue Knights. Fixed on the collaspe of Arachnos, the agenda of the faction would prove to fall along the same road she travelled. In time, she would move from those simply working with the Knights for the cause of evil or simple chaos--but, an out of what began to appear a blind loyalty to the organization's goals.

In August, 2008, Leomaris was granted the privilege of selecting her patron within Arachnos. She was accepted by Scirocco after working to defeat the djinn known as Serphina after her attempts to disrupt events within the Rogue Isles. Through Scirocco's blessing, she was further imbued with a portion of the power found within the mantle of Scirocco--granting a partial control over the winds in the form of lightning.

Price of Loyalty and Regret

"There are actions that we take that we will forever regret. In my pursuit for revenge against Arachnos, the betrayal of a figure I have come to respect will be the greatest I shall ever remember in this light. Scirocco had sought to change the world and bring redemption to those that had come to serve Arachnos. Yes, his goal was to do it by force, but his idea was a far more noble end than I ever had for Recluse and his minions. I will never forgive the power of Arbiter Daos and his master, Lord Recluse, that forced me to turn against such a figure. Nor, will Scirocco ever allow himself to forgive... for any future hopeful to seek a light in the darkness may never again bear the trust I once held. Balance must be maintained, but in this case, I never could see the threads that may have happened... maybe it was all just a story spun by the Malleus Mundi... Who really will ever know."

Betrayal was an everyday event in the ranks of Arachnos, even among the highest ranks of the Patrons that led the ever shifting power structures within. Leomaris had become involved with Scirocco's plans for a future new world. At first, she had begun to work with the idea that Arachnos could be redeemed via the power of the ancient book. His ultimate plan had been the complete change of thought and heart of the villains of the Rogue Isles. For a time, her own goals had linked with a member of the organization that would see the downfall of the web of corruption. In the end, however, the patron's attempted betrayal would be used as a test by Arachnos for her own potential within the organization.

At the discovery of the plan, Arbiter Daos called on Fates' Hand to act against Scirocco's agenda. There was no promises of power. It was explained as the balance between good and evil had come under a serious threat by the act. Two mercies were stolen from Scirocco... the ability to restore life to the fallen Ghost Widow and the ability to cleanse the past evils from himself. After his defeat, Lord Recluse would come to use the renegade Widow as part of the defeated patron's punishment. Scirocco had been allowed to live due to his ability to reach as far with his plan as he had. Leomaris was raised to the status of his equal--no longer setting her as one of those bound by the obligations of service to one of the Lieutenants of Recluse.

The events of Project DESTINY would eventually lead her through a course of events to a future ravaged by a war. It was the end result of a future created by a war between factions within Arachnos in the case of a major schism. According to the notes, the Destined One was one that would lead to the conflict. After several tests of the portal, a meeting was held between the rogue Seer and Lord Recluse where something was returned from one of her excursions into the portals. Some had said it was something resembling a mask or helmet. The exact owner or design was never revealed beyond whispers of the outcome of the meeting. According to the reports, she had never officially been one of the Destined One's from the start. Even in the end, after reaching the moment of power expected of one... her role was not to meet the lofty title. The sheer force of Will to bring the organization down and the use of the Chain of Destiny would lead to the events that had been revealed to that point.

One could say... the price of blind passion was the inability to see consequences, even for one blessed with the sight and visions of such things.

Spoilers end here.

The Broken Sword

Leomaris' role within the Rogue Isles has changed from that of the rogue Seer fighting against Arachnos to someone freed of the strictures of the organization. After a meeting with Lord Recluse himself, it was said that she had set aside her war with the organization to seek a new agenda. While that exact purpose was never defined, Leomaris has admitted defeat in her intended goal. Something within the portals that was shown to her by Recluse's agents had broken her desire to create a massive disruption of the powers that be in the Isle.

She has since been freed of the game of playing the role of a false Destined One. Rumors have questioned if she has been broken as many others that have challenged the Arachnos organization. Or, is it simply another game in the politics of the Rogue Isles...

Power Profile

Martial Arts

Leomaris is trained in the basic martial art styles common to the Widow ranks of Arachnos. She is known to sport the trademark claws and dart projectiles. Due to her specialized training as a seer in the past, she lacks any of the more advanced moves that are commonly found among the ranks of the Night Widows or experienced Blood Widows. The retaining of the more 'base' claws over mental arts, as common with others of the Seer rank, seems to be a focus on rounding out her combat styles rather than a pure reliance on one particular form of attack.

Telepathic Assault

Her mental powers have been trained towards offensive uses through her training. Through the use of mental projection, she has been schooled in the art of causing the mind to perceive injury to the body. Working through the concept of "mind over body," this ability is able to cause the target's mind to convince the body that it has suffered injury. Her control is limited to suggestion and small alterations, not outright overpowering a target's will to perform actions out of character for long periods of time. She has shown the ability to stun a target through a flood of overload to convincing them they are unable to move for periods of time. To a limited extent, she is able to cause a target to perceive others as their enemies for a short duration.

Enhanced Physical Conditioning

Leomaris has survived the Arachnos training camps which has focused on the development of the physical attributes of their Soldier programs. Like others of her archetype, she has shown a slightly improved recovery and endurance under stress. While most of her abilities seem focused on avoidance of injuries and speed, the only ability that has reflected 'beyond' human is an enhanced leaping feat. This seems to be a mixture of her former training and telekinetic interactions.

Fateweaving

An extension of her innate potential, her ability at foresight, also termed "fateweaving" in some circles, was honed through the training processes of Arachnos. The main draw back is her reliance on relics to expand the scope of what her visions allow. Naturally, she is only able to perceive potential outcomes that hold ill effects on those she has focused her interest on at that time. While originally of use in Arachnos, a limited scope of vision usually regulated one to the lowest castes of the sisterhood. Through the use of a focus or relic intended for scrying, she is able duplicate the level of detail and information gathered by many of the Oracles. MAGI has come to consider her on peer with the Delphic oracles popular in ancient days.

Blessing of the Desert Winds

With her selection of Scirocco as a patron, she had once gained the ability to tap in the mantle that was known to grant his own power. Her abilities have come to include a limited control over lightning that manifests as an immobilization field of several enemies at one time and field of electrical energy able to damage opponents over a period of time.

Her shaky alliance with her former patron over time has allowed her the ability to call upon a Mu mystic while in the field. This ability seems to be affected by the current status of her relationship with the Arachnos patron--sometimes these calls can be denied depending on how out of favor she may be in a situation.

Weaknesses

Mortality. In its simplest form, Leomaris is still as human as any other mundane citizen within the world. Despite the effects of her training and visions, she is still bound by the limitations as any other that walks the streets. While other super-powered beings have often claimed immortality or immunity to many physical effects, she still faces the enemies of time and disease. This has forced a heavy reliance on her own innate agility and technical equipment to protect against adverse conditions.

While her innate recovery has been enhanced through conditioning, she recovers as at the regular rate that many humans will when faced with severe injury or trauma.

Chain of Destiny

ChainofDestiny.jpg
This relic has become a trademark of her role within the Rogue Isles over the last few years. In the hands of a non-psychic or a simple magician, it resembles nothing more than a length of heavy chain that allows the user to sense the presence of a psychic or foreteller in the local area. Originally, she came into ownership of the Chain after a theft against the Mu when she escaped for a short time. The relic is said to bond or attune to a person making it unable to be taken without extreme measures. It was suspected that the Chain bonded with the mutilated seer while she was still under her sentence for treason against Arachnos.

Since her restoration as a full-fledged seer, the Chain has manifested its true form. A bracer of silver worked with engravings of gold, the Chain allows the wearer to perceive possible futures. Rather than a simple random crystal ball, the visions shown by the Chain allow the user to set the conditions and exact question they wished answered. The chain's answers are rumored to be possible--thus, some falsehood can creep in from time to time.

Event Horizon

Another relic of note, the Event Horizon has remained in her possession since its theft early in her career with the Mu. The piece is a simple crystal that appears veined with traces of a red mineral. Within the center of this crystal, a thin line appears to pulse similar to a heart monitor. Through reading the line, the user is able to ascertain if a prophecy is true or false.

Several relics of this nature are said to exist. Her own version was said to have been the one used at her trial and interrogation when she had been cast down from her former status.

Trivia

  • Originally, she began as a Brute known as Fatebreaker on the Guardian server. While not intended to be a RP character, the reception of her bio and appearance led to her story to be fleshed out. The character is roughly two years old.
  • Artwork featured on the page was created by the writer/artist in Daz Studio.
  • Inspiration comes from the archetype often seen in movies of a villain that feels to make a better world--sometimes you have to break a few eggs to make an omelette. While not an overall criminal mastermind, she has her own views of how to manipulate events
