Personality

Powers

Primary Set

Illusion Control: These "mojos", as Yvette tends to call them, are in truth physical manifestations of the negativity within a particular soul. The more negativity that exists within an individual, the more powerful the apparitions become. Yvette can also use deceptive psionic tricks to create more havoc, and even make enemies believe they have lost the power of sight. It is more difficult for her to affect machinery, unless it is cybernetic with some degree of biological brain function. At any rate, working against machines leaves her with a splitting headache.

Secondary Set

Radiation Emission: Yvette does not know why she has an aura, or how it does what it does, but she knows she can manipulate it to do different things. Her grandmother, who was a well-known local witch-woman, once told Yvette she was "a special child, touched on the heart", and that was enough explanation for her. Kirlian photography has shown that Yvette subconsciously extends her aura to envelop friends and enemies alike. The effect thereof is determined by the target's emotions. The aura feeds on negativity, weakening those that would do harm; positivity causes feedback that strengthens a target, and in some cases has healed minor wounds.

Weaknesses and Limitations

Yvette is very much claustrophobic, and is known to become anxious when in environments that limit her freedom of movement (Council bases, caves, some sections of laboratories). She is alternately unsure of herself and too confident, almost cocky, as well... it's hard to know which way her personality will swing. This, however, is improving with experience and time, as she learns to deal with the various presences inside her mind.

Equipment

Yvette does not use special equipment, although she sometimes wears an old New Orleans Saints jersey into combat - the last gift she remembers receiving from her parents before their demise.

Early Life

Yvette Thibodeaux was born on April 14, 1988 to a very small, but closely knit Cajun family. She remembers very few details of her early life other than the auto accident on Chef Menteur Highway that claimed the lives of both her parents when she was ten, and the rumors of her namesake grandmother's clairvoyance that circulated around her small community for years even after the old lady disappeared.

Following the deaths of her parents, Yvette was left with no home to call her own until she was found hiding under a bridge in the French Quarter by a kind man named Etienne Lacroix, known to the locals as "Prospero the Magnificent", master of tricks and illusions in a traveling street show. Etienne was not a rich man, but took pity on Yvette and decided to give her the best life that he could. The childless old man served as Yvette's substitute father figure, and taught her the secrets of several stage-magic tricks as well as how to handle knives in traditional side-show fashion. The two went along for many years in this way and managed to scrape out a living taking change from tourists and entertaining the locals. When Yvette was sixteen, a well-dressed lady that identified herself to Yvette as "Vanessa" pulled her aside for a brief moment following her knife act at one of Prospero's shows. Before Yvette was to be "sawed in half" shortly thereafter, before another dove could fly from Etienne's sleeve or a rabbit could jump startled from his hat, a proposition had been made.
