Learnin' some Hocus Pocus from the Masks an' Showin' King Cole who's Boss

Life in First Ward has never been easy for any Praetorian. Cut off from "civilization" and forced to make ends meet yourself. It isn't any better if you'd never known that civilization either. When that "golden city" you've never seen, but always hear of only makes itself known to you in the form of giant plant monsters and the occasional psychopath with a plasma cannon. That's all Tasha had even known about the mainland, having been born in First Ward. So the day the Resistance expanded their operation to First Ward, it didn't take long for Tasha to decide to join them so she could be equipped to defend her home. While at first she was little more than a typical grunt in the Resistance, she didn't care. They wasted no time in giving her some armor and a power rifle. When she heard about the Carnival of Light opening their doors to the Resistance to teach some of their soldiers the magic they knew, it took Tasha even less time to make a choice about that front.

Also immediately, the young Warder made her way to the Carnies that were teaching their craft. Providing the Resistance members that approach them with tomes, scrolls, and training. After a few short months, Tasha had become a full fledged Runesoldier. She felt that the power she had wasn't enough to properly fight Cole's regime how ever, as the chaotic, uncontrolled magics most of the other Runesoldiers like her wielded could be pushed to an even greater level. She'd become almost obsessed with building her power to greater heights. Pouring over her scrolls and tomes every given opportunity she had. Even some of her fellow Runesoldiers thought she'd become obsessive about her studies. Despite the views that were had about her, Tasha's studies eventually bore fruit as she discovered techniques that allowed her to better channel the chaotic energies the Runesoldier's wielded, as well as mastering some basic incantations and techniques of a form of magic known merely as Cronomancy.

With her newly gained magics, Tasha began to go by the codename, Guncaster, and started to make solo guerrilla strikes against the forces in First Ward that sought to undermine the well being of it's citizenry. Making jumps through the time flow with her magics, and using her power to hinder that very same time flow for the targets she went after. Coupled with the control she now had over the once chaotic powers she'd learned from the Carnival, she quickly became regarded as an "Elite Runesoldier". This title made it to where Calvin Scott himself started to take notice of Tasha's activity and decided she would be of even greater use to the Resistance on the mainland. The fabled "Golden City" that the Runesoldier had only ever heard about in her days.

The Return to Nowhere

While Guncaster's tour in the mainland proved to enable the Resistance to land some damaging blows against Cole and his forces, the Runesoldier was eventually called back to her old home in First Ward by the Carnival of Light with an urgent message. While Guncaster was a loyal soldier of the Resistance, one thing was certain. She was a scavenger of the ward, and a citizen of Eltentown, long before she was a weapon for Calvin Scott to employ, so it didn't take much thought for her to decide to return to her old home upon the carnivals request. Upon her return, she discovered First Ward to be in even more disarray than usual. The people were in a state of unrest, the dead were walking, and a giant Hamidon spawn was flying around in the sky. What more, she was discovering that the Carnival was drawing in people from Primal Earth to help with this situation as well, which seemed to only be aggravating the unrest that was already present. The Resistance cell that was stationed in Eltentown for that matter, seemed to be the cause of it all as well. Not Cole. Not even the Hamidon that was present. But the Resistance. Learning this caused the Runesoldier to reach a boiling point as she stormed the Resistance cell that was stationed in Eltentown when their commanding officer who was made a high ranking offical of the compound, chose to enact a martial law upon the Eltentowners. Guncaster struck out at the Resistance with every spell, hex, and dirty trick she knew until the soldiers responsible laid dead at her feet.

Journey to the Prime

Guncaster stares down a Malta Titan, rifle at the ready.

After the uprising in Eltentown, Guncaster remained in First Ward for a long while, doing what she could to aid the locals with her magic and military training she'd gained. Fighting off wild Ghouls, warding against malevolent apparitions, and even performing guerrilla raids against the imperial forces that were occupying a percentage of the Ward. Eventually, things reached a peak where she knew she'd no longer be needed there for a while, and so Guncaster returned to the mainland once again to see what she could do. It was there she was approached by people that had hailed from Primal Earth, Praetoria's dimensional counterpart, as they explained that someone with Guncaster's skills and talents could be of great help in the war efforts against Emperor Cole and their world. Seeing an opportunity to do more damage to Cole, the Runesoldier heartily agreed and she was taken to the Prime.

Here, she learned just the degree of problems that were had in Primal Earth. Between Praetoria's invasion forces, and the constant infighting with the Primals, as well as other bizarre, supernatural forces she'd never even seen before, Guncaster could only conclude that she felt right at home there! Despite the Primes many problems, the people there were at least free. Not forced to live a certain way, or made to survive in squaller as scavengers. It wasn't perfect, but it was close enough for her taste, so naturally she wasted no time in assisting the Primals in working on preserving this freedom and relative peace they possessed as she quickly left her mark by almost immediately going toe to toe with the 5th Collumn, Sky Raiders, and Malta. It wasn't long after that a small percentage of Paragon City took notice of Guncaster's actions and recognized her as one of the cities super heroes.
