Maryon Fantomas

Maryon Fantomas is most commonly known as an underground, alternative surgeon from Providence, Rhode Island. Using both magic and alien science, he's capable of making miracles happen for those with the money and stomach. His past, present, and future are nothing if not wholeheartedly shady-- Maryon is a Nictus, and has made Earth his home for several millennia.

About
Currently, Maryon Fantomas conducts his practice from the privacy of his estate, where few prying eyes get the chance to report him. Those that get too close are captured and released, and generally pose no further threat. His daughter's residence is a well-kept secret, but given her increased activity, Maryon's public visibility has increased.
Origin
Maryon, as a Nictus, was one of the early arrivals to Earth. His first and only known body is that of an Egyptian priest, whose goals were the same as his: Escape from death. Through magic and careful use of alien science, Maryon's human form has been expertly preserved. The human's essence, however, was not known to have survived long past the original merger.
5th Column
His current identity came to being in the early 20th century, committing witchcraft underground and bottom-feeding off of the dead and wounded of WWI. And later on, during the German occupation of France, Maryon fully defected to the Axis powers. Contrary to the otherwise correct assumption that this was done out of cowardice and raw evil, it was the alignment of other Nictus and the specific goals of the Path of the Dark that led him there.
Throughout WWII, Fantomas worked to improve the successful extraction and subsequent use of Nictus fragments, never seeing results that pleased him. He took several experimental risks that never made their ways into the normal supersoldier process, but by the end of the war, he'd managed to successfully produce his magnum opus, the Dusk Shard. When the Allies won, Maryon had already relocated to America-- Providence, the hometown of a favorite writer-correspondent,-- where he's lived to this very date.
The Zeroth Hour
Not a member of The Zeroth Hour, so much as a de facto contact of Niara's, Maryon occasionally shows up to heckle his daughter's friends. In the unfortunate case that Niara finds herself incapacitated, however, he's been known to fill in for her duties. Niara is currently oblivious to this.

Aside from the standard Nictus domain of gravity, darkness, and souls, Maryon enhances his scope of abilities through magic. They mostly come into play through his practice of medicine, as opposed to combat, where he's had success replacing every sort of arbitrary limb and organ. Informed use of magic, combined with more than acceptable precision with a knife, lend himself to a seldom-used alter-ego in combat zones, the Surgeon Infamant.

Ankoku Shoujo Niara, Niara Asafune, is Maryon's illegitimate daughter. She lives with him and occasionally assists with operations, but largely works independent of him in Paragon City.
