Michael Jacks adopted the name meQal which translates into burns bright shortly after he began his career as a hero. However he got sick of criminals getting off through loopholes in the law so he became a vigilante to bring what he feels is true justice to criminals. He claims he lost his arm in a sexual mishap involving Ms. Liberty however this is believed to be just a statement he made in jest as there is no evidence to indicate any type of relationship at all between him and the well known heroine.
