History
It was spring 1942, Germany had established a new front in the Battle of Stalingrad. The war had taken a turn for the worse for the Axis Powers, and a top secret "final hour" operation was set in motion. Representatives from each nation, accompanied by a team of specially trained soldiers, convened in secret inside Leningrad. A machine was constructed using ancient blueprints, a portal to an alternate dimension was opened, and a powerful magical entity was violently pulled to our world. They planned to use the power of this entity to turn the tide of the war, but they underestimated it's strength, and were unable to contain it. The entity released a burst of energy, crumbling the building down on top of the would be captors.
Reports of the incident began coming in from Allied Forces who had been spying on the area. The Sentinels of Liberty, a new group of metahumans who had been fighting alongside the Allied Forces to bring an end to the war, were dispatched to Leningrad immediately. Upon arrival, the Sentinels discovered the entity, standing at the center of what used to be the largest building in the city. The entity started toward them. It made no sound, but they could all hear it's voice resonating within their minds. "All is well, I sensed you would come." He continued past the group. "I am ready when you are."
Back at the Sentinels' home base, they showed the entity everything they could about the human race, and told him of their fight to preserve freedom and justice for all. He was intrigued, and when they offered him a place on the team, he took the chance to learn more. He became known as Mister Zenith, and a press conference was held to formally welcome him, both to the team, and to the United States of America as a full-fledged citizen.
Shortly following the conclusion of World War II, the Sentinels of Liberty disbanded. Mister Zenith continued to aid the U.S. government, taking on many special assignments in secret over the years. When news of an impending Rikti attack reached Zenith, he disappeared… and when the first Rikti ships were spotted over Paragon City, he was waiting… standing between his new home, and the invaders.
Zenith was astonished by the amount of, not only super-powered heroes, but average everyday Americans who answered the call to defend against the Rikti attack. He had never before felt as close to the humans as he did now, and when the invasion was over, he vowed to always protect humanity, no matter the cost.
