Origin

Ms. Shock appears to be a normal human. Her abilities seem to be focused around her equipment. Most of her other training is military in nature and includes infantry tactics, urban warfare, and surveillance/espionage techniques.

History

Investigative reporters in New York City have dragged up a short, edited interview from a London newspaper that describes Ms. Shock's involvement in the First Rikti Invasion. The interview was published in London's Daily Telegraph on November 12, 2002, only a few days after the Rikti were defeated soundly for the first time.

Ms. Shock was first seen entering Paragon City on an international flight from London in March 2007. Customs agents noted nothing about her appearance, mannerisms, or anything else that may have identified her as a superhero. It is possible that the passport and other identifying papers she used to enter the country were falsified.

Soon after her recorded entry under the name Wilmena Gordon, Ms. Shock registered herself as a superpowered vigilante at Paragon City's City Hall. She has worked with several heroes over the last few months against many different criminal groups and against the recent Rikti invasions.

Recent investigations have identified Ms. Shock as a Captain in the British Army. Her last known assignment was with the Special Air Services, England's special forces group.

Since entering Paragon City, Ms. Shock has proven herself adept at fighting several villainous organizations. While working with other heroes, Ms. Shock successfully prevented three major bank robberies, two by Arachnos operatives and another by Vahzilok-backed villains. The last bank robbery she foiled by herself, despite the demands of the Paragon Police Department to find others to assist her. She has also thrown herself head-first into fighting off recent Rikti invasions.

More recently, she personally took down Dr. Vahzilok and escorted him to the Zig... after she fried his various cybernetic parts. When asked about Dr. Vahzilok's condition, Ms. Shock gave only this cryptic response: "He'll live... unlike those inhuman creations of his."

In the beginning of 2008, Ms. Shock dropped out of the public limelight. She has only recently come back to Paragon City (around March 2009.)

Recent Actions

Ms. Shock was recently spotted in Steel Canyon after a lengthy absence from the public life. She was dressed in civilian attire and seemed to be returning from a lengthy vacation.

Soon after her return, Ms. Shock was spotted on Talos Island. Several papparazzi managed to catch a picture of her dragging an unconscious Warrior leader named "Heracles" out of a warehouse. She appeared to be in rough shape after the battle, but the heroine was able to move under own power and refused medical attention.

Stories

A compiled list of stories can be accessed in the following list. A summary of those stories is included here; they are listed in chronological order as they occurred.

Equipment

At her initial entry into the superhero scene, Ms. Shock's equipment was limited to a set of gauntlets, boots, and several mil-spec items that were British in origin. Her equipment has changed quite dramatically over the last few months. She has tried trenchcoats, capes, prototype armor suits, and even rocket-propulsion boots. Serge, the world-renowned manager of ICON Steel Canyon, has commented in Vogue magazine that "that lady's fashion sense is all over the place... kinda like the woman under the armor".

The follwing information depicts her current costume.

Exo-Storm Armor Prototype

Her current outfit centers around a prototype derivative of the ExoProto padded armor suit. (Available in ICON stores worldwide - Where The Heroes Shop!TM) The same reverse-engineered Rikti technology that was included in her previous gauntlets and boots was incorporated throughout the suit. By doing so, Ms. Shock's abilities have increased and diversified in several ways.

The most notable improvements involve the amount of adverse reactions she suffers when using her electricity-based powers. Those powers now include a rejeuvenating effect similar to what other electric-based heroes and villains experience by draining the ambient energies from their targets.

The suit also added additional nano-energy storage units (again, reverse-engineered Rikti technology); these units provide power storage for her flight capability and additional kinetic energy bursts for her diverse unarmed combat maneuvers.

Monocle

Ms. Shock uses a modified British Army-issued viewfinder monocle. It fits over her right eye and also serves as a rangefinder and tactical visual interface. It uses a Bluetooth link to Ms. Shock's armor suit.

Personal Breather

Ms. Shock also added a custom rebreather and air filtration unit to her gear. This unit adheres to the face and covers both nose and mouth without restricting air flow or speech. This addition was made after a foray into the Paragon City sewers; an unconfirmed media report stated that she simply "could not handle breathing that God-awful [censored] any more." The rebreather unit also contains a microphone and a Bluetooth link to her armor suit for radio communications.

Taser Gun

As an afterthought, Ms. Shock acquired a taser gun and had it mounted on her left gauntlet. She does not use it very often, but it makes a very handy non-lethal weapon for use against more mundane threats. The taser uses her armor suit's power to function, and it includes retractable wire cables. The regular steel taser needles have been replaced with mil-spec tungsten composite needles that can penetrate mundane body armor.

Personal Teleporter

One of the first things Ms. Shock did when she arrived in Paragon City was to acquire a VIP membership at Pocket D, the very popular dance club that caters specifically to super-heros and villians alike. It is rumored that Ms. Shock has also been able to access the city's emergency teleportation network. She has not commented on this rumor to date.

Ms. Shock's powers focus upon preventing her enemies from acting and quickly dispatching single enemies. Enemies that close to melee range usually receive a barrage of martial arts or energy-enhanced attacks; the really dangerous ones receive a massive energetic blow that sends them flying. If too many close to fight her, she lets loose a massive burst of electrical energy or two to disable them and moves to resume bombardment. She prefers to attack from above and remain mobile so that her targets cannot retaliate as quickly.

Some heroes in Paragon City have attributed Ms. Shock's fighting style as a mix between "Airborne Blaster" and "Blapper" styles. "Airborne Blasters" typically use flight-based powers to maintain air superiority and simply avoid melee as much as possible, while "Blappers" prefer to fight villains toe-to-toe, using their melee abilities to bring down their opponents as quickly as possible.

Ms. Shock admits to using both styles, but adds that "those two styles have their disadvantages. Blappers have the annoying habit of getting their arses kicked too quickly in melee. Airborne blasters have their own tactical superiority, but they can be brought down to earth too easily. Me, I just use the best of both styles along with a lot of situational awareness."

Electricity

Ms. Shock's main focus is using electricity as a ranged weapon. She prefers single-target attacks and uses them to "pull" a single enemy away from a crowd. Most heroes definitely appreciate this, as her area-of-effect attacks tend to be quite flashy and catch a lot of attention.

Of course, when faced with numerous weaker villains, Ms. Shock doesn't hesitate to crank out a concentrated "ball" of electricity and throw it into that crowd. With sufficient preparation, she can easily stun five to seven villains with one blast.

Her special forces experience has also taught her the value of attacking from a hidden vantage point; she has applied that principle to her ranged attacks as well. One of Ms. Shock's most powerful attacks is a long-range blast of electricity. It has pinpoint accuracy and tends to devastate her intended target.

For more troublesome opponents that could cause issues, Ms. Shock creates a local electrical energy field around a single target. This field, more colloquially known as a "Tesla Cage," imprisons the target and prevents him/her from acting. Ms. Shock keeps this in reserve for hard-hitting foes, but she uses it extensively while working with other heroes to "control" a battle.

Well done or extra crispy?

Energy Melee

Her ranged attacks typically draw a lot of attention; for those villains foolish enough to close the gap, she keeps an assortment of energy-boosted melee attacks ready for them. Most of these attacks can knock a villain for a loop... or send him flying across the street. Using these attacks is extremely taxing, so Ms. Shock tends to keep them in reserve to finish off weakened enemies.

Get some!!!

Flight

Since her suit can manipulate electromagnetic and kinetic energies, it would make sense that she could use them to fly around Paragon City. So Ms. Shock does exactly that to get from point A to point B. While not as flashy as teleportation or surprising as super-speed, her rocket-powered flight does get her across neighborhoods rather quickly.

In combat, Ms. Shock does not use her rocket boots; she instead uses her suit's repulsor field to stay airborne. This is a much slower means of movement, but it allows her to move precisely and to ignore inertia. She becomes much harder to hit when she does this.

Flying through the air.

Signature Power: Phalanx Blitz

Many heroes have what is known as a "signature power," a unique ability that seperates them from similar super-powered individuals. This is not something every hero attempts to acheive; most heroes are quite happy using more generic abilities and with blending in with the crowd.

Ms. Shock has, in a way, created her own signature power. When asked what it was called, she referred to it as "the Phalanx Blitz maneuver." The press shortened the name to "Phalanx Blitz," and that moniker has stuck.

Phalanx Blitz involves a massive electrical discharge. Thousands of lightning bolts arc from Ms. Shock's suit and strike her intended target or targets. The discharge continues as long as she has energy built up in her suit. Afterwards, the suit is completely drained and becomes effectively inert.

Against a single target, these bolts coalesce into a single electric bolt nearly eighteen inches in diameter; this "uber-bolt" can melt or penetrate nearly any material. The bolt continues up to a hundred feet away before it loses potency.

In its multiple target form, Phalanx Blitz truly shines as an area-of-effect maneuver. The original lightning bolts arc towards conductive materials. Those materials send the lightning bolts on to other objects. This process continues until the area is covered in criss-crossing lightning bolts. Anyone caught in the area will definitely be hit at least once, if not multiple times.

Phalanx Blitz is widely regarded as the "finishing move" in Ms. Shock's arsenal. She admits to only using it once; that instance is believed to be in her climactic battle against Dr. Vahzilok.
