Origins

Creation

The Oni race was created by the Japanese lord of Death Enma Dai-O to be his underlings and carry out tortures in Jigoku (hell). A leader was created for the Oni and named Ura, this was the only Oni that ever had a name. Being in Hell, Ura was displeased with his surroundings and forced servitude under the death god. He, and a large group of rebellious Oni, planned an escape to earth.

The Demon Gate

Ura used his exceptionally strong magic to summon a giant gate that arose from the ground in the foothills near a human village on the island of Mejijima. Out of it the Oni emerged from their fiery realm, unleashed upon the world. They immediately wiped out that village and eventually the entire island, killing and eating all human residents, save a lucky few that escaped. The Oni nation of Onigashima was established in the ruins of the previous human civilization and a massive castle was built by hollowing out the island's dormant volcano with Ura as King.

The Siege of Onigashima

Hearing the news of the invasion and mass genocide on the former island of Mejijima, Emperor Kagawa ordered his armies to storm the highly fortified island. They sieged the walls of Onigashima for years, neither side able to wipe the other out. The Oni were simply too strong and the humans were simply too large in number for either side to win out.

Momotaro the Oni-Slayer

Momotaro was sent from heaven in the form of a peach, which was found floating in a river by a childless old woman. After eating half of it she was completely rejuvenated to her youth by it's powers and she ran home to share the other half with her husband, who also regained his youth. That night, the newly invigorated couple make love, the woman becoming pregnant as a result. Momotaro was born.

Years later, he left his parents to fulfill his destiny and complete his mission. Harnessing the power of the animals, he overran the Oni and destroyed King Ura. The remaining Onis scattered to the mainland and hid in the mountains, where they remain to this day.

Oni Slaying Ninjas

Still not pleased with the fall of Onigashima and the death of King Ura, Emperor Kagawa, with the assistance of Momotaro, trained an elite squad of ninjas tasked with the tracking and slaying of all remaining Oni. Although the Oni hid well, a large number of them were wiped out by the ninjas, pushing them to the brink of extinction.

Extinct?

As time passed, the rarity of Oni and their hermit lifestyle of hiding in the mountains caused them to fade into legend. Thousands of years came and went to modern day without a single trace of them. Due to their immortality, some of the original Oni still exist today.

Rogue Islands

One courageous Oni escaped on a ship to the Rogue Isles, where he realized that most humans don't even know what Oni are. He sees this as a golden chance to rebuild the nation of Onigashima.

Oni have a natural affinity for Earth, Shadow, and Fire magic along with their natural strength and durability. (hint: origin is always Magic) See explanation for "Full Blood" and "Half Breed" below in Size and Shape.

Size and Shape

There are 2 different kinds of Oni, full-blooded and half-human. Human crossbreeds arose from human females (or males) that somehow survived a brutal "forced mating" with an Oni and escaped, their demon spawn born in secret. Very rarely an Oni and a human will fall in love, but this is very, very unlikely. Half Breeds become outcasts in human society and are immortal like their full-blooded cousins but are shaped more like humans.

Any of the 3 shades of red are allowed, nothing else.

Style and Costume

Both genders of Full-Blooded Oni have the tendency to show alot of skin and wear almost nothing. Males are typically shirtless and females typically wear the bare minimum of clothing to cover their private areas. Half Breeds have lived in human society and their style is influenced (only partially) by human society, they typically still expose alot of skin. Try to use the colors Red, Black, and/or White in your clothing.

If a helmet is worn, it has to be asian-looking, which sadly is only available to people who have the vet badge for it or the Martial Arts pack.

Full Blood Female

(note: paragon studios decided not to allow female toons to have tattoos with belly shirts. BUT there is a way to circumvent this stated below. If the top is marked, the bottom has to be marked too.)

Half Breed

Naming

Full Blood Oni do not have names at all, they are to be named a description + Oni (or Oni + description). Half Breeds are Japanese, and have Japanese names.
