Known History

The PAW-N Project

PAW-N 001 was originally a prototype android, designed for the PPD as a SWAT unit that could be used for the more extreme dangers of today, in situations which would be too perilous to the officers or heroes.
The project was lightly staffed, with only a small security force, and a single roboticist, a genius in his field.
The project was proceeding at an astounding rate, and the prototype looked like it would be fully operational within a week, only needing an operating system to be installed and linked.
However, word of the project was leaked to an unknown source, and the facility was attacked by an unknown organization who utilized cloaking devices to stay hidden.
Whoever they were, they were incredibly strong, ripping the security staff to pieces as they searched for the prototype.
Meanwhile, the roboticist was panicking heavily, he had seen the power of the attackers and he was terrified of what would happen if they got ahold of his robot, or what they would do to him when they discovered it was useless without an OS.
Unable to think straight, The roboticist grabbed an old device of his, a modified VR helmet that would transfer consciousness of it’s user into computer data, turning the mind into an effective AI (He had never been able to test it due to the amount of risk it posed should it fail, or succeed.).
He plugged himself into his creation, and uploaded his mind completely into PAW-N, becoming the robot’s OS.
However, the device had never been tested, and it left several large gaps in his memory, causing the roboticist to forget about his entire history.
Now in a powerful robot body, but with no memory (and with sounds of violence and screaming coming even closer to his door.), he grabbed as many files as he could, and activated his jump jets, sending him smashing through the ceiling and to safety.
He eventually found his way to Kings Row, where his jump jets ran out of power and he was sent flying into an alleyway.
Now lost and with nothing but a load of files, the roboticist began to study his find, learning about his new body, about the powers he possessed, and what he could now do.
However, there was nothing in the files that told him who he was, and with nowhere to go, he eventually found his way to an old power plant in Faultline, which he was eventually able to get up and running again by salvaging parts from Clockwork he could find that strayed too close, and began using it to keep himself charged as he made connections and hacked databases, trying to find info on the project that created his body.
Over time, He took the robot’s name, PAW-N, as his own, and he eventually began a short career as a vigilante, helping people that were in trouble near his base of operations.

However, such acts do not go unnoticed, and his hack attempts and public appearances’ were eventually traced back to his hideout.

S.C.O.R.P.I.O.

A section of Security Footage from the S.C.O.R.P.I.O. Storage chambers, showing PAW-N at work on his Bio Suit
Upon returning to his hideout, several months after his escape, PAW-N found an odd, red-haired woman waiting for him by his generator.

She stated her name was Cherry 9, and that she was one of the heads of a group known as S.C.O.R.P.I.O., which was quite interested in him.
The appearances of him they had seen would have just made him a potentially useful droid under most circumstances, but what truly caught the groups attention, was the many human traits he had been showing, traits that, upon research into the original project, were most certainly not intended for the final design.
She then gave PAW-N a small flash drive, which contained the security camera footage from the night of PAW-N’s escape.
While the footage was too damaged to tell who PAW-N originally looked like, it was clear enough to confirm to PAW-N that he wasn’t supposed to be an android, that he did have a human life out there somewhere, as well as a real name.
It was then Cherry made PAW-N a deal…it was clear that PAW-N had once been the lead roboticist on the Project, and that his Body and it’s Hardware would be of use.
She invited him to join the S.C.O.R.P.I.O. Special Operations unit, where he would have better facilities to continue his research, a higher clearance level so he wouldn’t have to do as much hacking, and a higher-quality recharge Station.
In return, all he had to do was provide the organization with his talents and equipment when he was needed.
He readily accepted, and was transported to the Sanctuary the next day, after making sure the power plant left no traces of his being there…
