PRIME: Paragon Regional Institute for Meta-Education

PRIME is a Supergroup/school specifically for metahuman teens, comprising middle school and high school grades with plans to expand into elementary school in the near future. PRIME was the brain child of the players Brimstone Bobby and Dreamkatcher and was initially inspired by the movie Sky High. It has since taken on a character all it's own as a mesh between the Xavier School for Gifted Youth and Sky High.

Membership in the SG is not limited to student characters only and includes several teacher characters as well as Headmaster. The SG's base is set up for form rather than function and serves as the schools main campus with a cafeteria, library, computer lab, study areas, teacher's offices, and Headmaster's office. Medical facilities are located on campus as well as limited teleporter functioning. The main function of the school is to be place of learning.

Location

PRIME is located outside of the normal city zones. The land the campus is located on is owned by Micheal Drake, aka Dreamkatcher who with the aid of Brimstone Bobby funded the building of the school.

The school is across Paragon Bay on the peninsula north of Dark Astoria. Both Paragon Bay and the Atlantic Ocean can be seen from the school grounds. It is accessable via teleporters found in every zone of the city or can be reached by ground or air, assuming one has the ability to exit the War Walls.

The entire campus grounds are walled and gated for the students' protection and is accessible through a front gate of ten foot tall wrought iron. The campus itself is a typical school layout with hints of old english architecture for flair.

The Student Body

Computer lab

Most of the students who attend PRIME came for various individual reasons, but are unified by the fact that for some reason they would not fit in well in a "normal" public school setting. While the universe of CoH seems to be at ease with metahumans in general, not all metahumans are at ease with the world around them. As well, bigotry and misunderstanding are still unfortunate facts of life.

Several students hail from alternate dimensions and are not familiar with this world's customs. Some students are artificial life forms such as androids or genetically created beings, other students are other than human as far as species is concerned, and some are simply deemed at high risk for future gang activity or potentally dangerous to other "normal" students if not given proper motivation and supervision at this pivitol time in their lives.

The only requirement for admission to PRIME is that for some reason the student is not appropriate for metahuman-human mixed educational environments. The financial obligations for tuition at PRIME are dealt with on a case by case basis.

The Faculty

The faculty of PRIME is mixed between meta-human and human educators. Several teachers are either current or former registered heroes who also have a background in teaching, while the regular teachers are all certified by the State of Rhode Island. Several meta-humans also act in the function of trainers for the student body, focusing on training the students control and use of their powers. The school features a couseling staff trained to assist students with any problems or future planning.

Cafeteria

The Dorms

PRIME maintains full time dormitory facilities that remain active and open even during summer and holiday breaks. As several students come from alternate dimensions and are not able to return "home" for breaks, the dorms and dining facilities remain open year round to provide living quarters for these students. Those students with active sponsorship are encouraged to spend break sessions with their Paragon City sponsor and get used to living among the population, but this is not a requirement.
