Kryogentic Warp Factor

Personality

Alec Huber, in blunt terms is a genocidal psychopath bent on creating a world based on the notion of "Mind over body." He has created or as he believes "earned" two personalities. The first is Alec Huber, ex-surgeon missing more than a couple marbles. The other is "Pangs," a killing machine that Huber believes is the wrath of his twisted Goddess.

Alec talks in a condescending tone, often adopting pet-names for those he interacts with. Generally these names deal with what he has decided about the person's personality. (Examples: Kryogentic: Queen. Fenix Alheron: Man of Straw. Epsilon Victor: Man with No Face. Cryogentic: No One) Also, he enjoys talking in riddles or in a free-form poetic style.

Powers

Primary Set

Claws - Though he has now begun to evolve monstrous claws of his own, Pangs has a trio of blades grafted to each hand that he can retract and extend with a flick of the wrist.

Secondary Set

Super Reflexes - On top of his superior reaction speed, Pang's psychic ability allows him the chance to predict his foe's next move by sorting through their excess waves of thought.

Additional Powers

Travel

Flight - Pangs uses his psychic power to levitate and move at great speed through the air. Recently, he had the Facemaker graft the wings of a fallen Behemoth Overlord to his back.

Power Pool

Fitness - Genetic engineering keeps him at peak fitness.

Abilities

Pangs was born a mutant with psychic capabilities and used this to his advantage in his pursuit to become a surgeon.

Weaknesses and Limitations

Three words: He. Is. Crazy.

Character History

The Early Years

Born in Brandenburg, East Germany in the early 1960's, Alec Huber was a child gifted with the mutant gene. It had given him powerful psionic and telepathic abilities. He hid this gift from those around him and moved to understand his powers in secret. As he grew older, he began using his ability to pick up the random thoughts of those around him to help himself through school. All Alec wanted was to understand how and why he had this power.

Huber took himself through medical school and was on his way to becoming a surgeon. He even let up on concealing his gifts from the public. Unfortunately, while beginning his residency at a hospital, he attracted the attention of a Soviet sponsored super-soldier project. Abducted and given shots of special anesthesia that would keep his powers down, a group of scientists began converting a thin, squeamish mutant surgeon into the perfect killing machine. From chemical baths and steroids to rage drugs and lobotomies they worked. The chemicals and operations rotted away at his brain and his sanity while the rage drugs and adrenaline shots removed much of his ability to feel pain.

In a twist of irony, their monstrosity turned against the scientists when Huber was awakened from his forced sleep. The twisted abomination brutally sliced apart everyone in the lab with freshly implanted blades in his wrist. Alec would kill them in disgusting ways like gouging out their eyes then working the blades to their brain or slowly bleeding them to death with many small cuts.

The first incarnation of Pangs, who called himself simply "Pain" at this time was born.

The Coming Decades

The Pain was the new bogeyman in Germany, stalking through the dark using his psychic abilities to taunt and tear apart his victim's minds while his claws dealt with the body. Those who hunted him down were taken out in groups at a time, the rare survivor claiming Huber seemed to know where they were attacking from.

Alec quickly developed masochistic tendencies, taking the knife to his own body. He claimed to be "perfecting it." Aside from the myriad of expertly stitched scars dotting his face and body, he removed his own tongue, feeling he was above using his vocal cords. He continued his bloody rampage for years across Europe and Asia before finally being captured with new neural inhibitor technology. Alec was locked away in the deepest part of a high security asylum where he was to remain until he died.

Paragon City

With the new age of heroes coming out of the Rikti war, there was a demand by certain parties for a new generation of villains. Alec Huber was the perfect candidate to be a "hero slayer". Released from his prison by a shadowy group, he was brought to Paragon City.

Here, he faced the super-group know as the Guardian Angels Reborn. After his original mission failed, Alec slipped away from his leash and disappeared into the underground.

Over the coming months, Huber teamed up with other villains and launched a campaign against the Guardian Angels Reborn and other heroes. At the climax of the attacks, Alec was beheaded in a lengthy battle against the Vampire heroine, Caios.

The Rogue Isles

Thought dead by the world, a piece of Alec Huber lived on. Though his body was out of life, his mind lived on in the psychic realm. As soon as his body's pieces were recovered, his contingency plan went into effect. While he was in Paragon, Huber helped supply Dr. Vahzilok with body parts and other supplies. In exchange, should Alec ever be killed, it was Doc V's job to stitch him back up and reanimate his body. Unlike many of Doc V's experiments, when Alec's mind reconnected with his body, all his organs came back to life. His skin warmed as his heart began to pump his new blood through his veins. Until he recovered from the process, Doc V suggested Huber should meet up with his disciple, the Facemaker over the Rogue Isles and start his plans all over again.

Closing in on his full strength, Huber has adopted the new handle "Pangs". Now, he continues his legacy of brutality and works his talons closer to Paragon City, to do away with the heroes who set him back for so long. His plans for the end of humanity would come, and no do-gooder would stop him.

Resurrection

Was he dead or alive? This seemed to be the main question that he picked up when his colleague's minds were tapped. Others wondered what that smell was, or thought about how good they looked. These quick glances into other's minds were random at best, usually day dreams or short tangents in thought. Most of his abilities were simple tricks of the mind, abusing the stimulus of the senses to fool his opponents. Even though he was a powerful psychic, the only way to find the secrets and dark depths of one's mind required permission, or the slow process of breaking down the body and mind's defenses. The latter was always more fun.

Is he dead? His heart pumped blood through his veins, his lungs supplied his body with oxygen, and his brain responded to stimulation. In medical terms, he was alive, but he did die. His head had rolled across the floor, free from the body it once sat upon. In this day, death was more an inconvenience than an end. Immortals speckled the mortal populace, heroes died and had their souls returned, villains used science to prolong life and even bring a mind back to the body.

The mind was not a thing that could be touched like a brain, a brain is simply tissue and synapses that responded to stimulus. The mind on the other hand is energy, a force that transcends the normal plane of existence. Most call this place the "psychic plane" and it is beyond normal human perception. Only those gifted with psychic abilities can train themselves to see this world and even use it as a second sight. To see with eyes closed. That is how he never really died, the force of his mind was so powerful, it remained in the psychic plane even after his body grew cold. He just needed to wait for a living body to let his mind enter and he would be reborn. He didn't want any body, he wanted his body. For two decades he worked to perfect his flesh form into the visage of Life. Dark, painful, lonely and rotten.

Who was he? He was no longer the maniacal mastermind "The Pain" who sought to dominate the world. No, the Pain died that day, and was buried under Alec Huber's headstone. Alec Huber's mind prevailed through death and resigned in the psychic plane until he could reinhabit his body. There, his mind grew in power and discovered a new purpose, one that pushed him back to earth as a new being...

Now he was a duality brought together in one form: One a man, the other a force of nature. One rotting mind for two, the first being the psychic, mutant, and surgeon Alec Huber while the other was the incarnation of the pain nature wished upon mankind, and it was known as Pangs.

Pangs is charged with helping, in whatever way possible, men and woman to realize the true beauty of the immortal minds and do away with the pains of the body just as Alec Huber has done.

Current Activities

Pangs is now attempting to eliminate the pests he calls the Rikti and anyone that may be infected with the Rikti mutagen from the world. The story is by Snowdog and can be found at [1].

Also, Alec currently owes a favor to Epsilon Victor, a Nemesis agent and ex-Malta operative currently working on something big for Paragon City.
