Concept Synopsis

Psy-Beetle is a mix of both the Silver and Bronze Age of comic characters, sometimes pertaining more to the zany classicness of Silver, while touching on the realism introduced in the Bronze. The origin of the character is tied heavily into Science as a genetically engineered being. He is generally potrayed with a bit of comic relief, but has spent breif periods of time as sidekick to the hero Libertyman when he was still present in Paragon City.

History

Experiment #388

Casey Fallon was born Experiment #388 (Later choosing the former name during his stay at Chiron Medical.), on May 22nd 1984 in a lab called Dexiris Laboratories located in Paragon Heights (Now Galaxy City). Though not a normal birth; Experiment #388 was preformed in a "bio pod" and emerged on the date mentioned. He, alongside Experiment #387, were the labs two mental experiments. Both were created to serve as a "hive mind" for the other experiments, as well as one being the others failsafe.

Unfortunately for Dexiris, and luckily for Paragon City, neither of these two children developed the skills required to serve as hive mind. Both of the twins were deemed failures, but kept for further examination. Over this period they determined that three eighty eight (Fallon) was quite disobedient and wished to much to act like a normal child. Such outbreaks of childness caused him to get into many accidents, one such incident ended with the scarring of both his hands to near total unusability.

Years passed and on young Fallon's twelfth birthday he was judged to be himself unusable and faulty. One of the scientists was ordered to terminate Experiment #388. Unable to take the life of the child the man simply abandoned him on a street corner in Atlas Park and sped away.

Fallon spent almost three months living in the alleyways of Paragon, using his unique abilities to help other vagrants until finally his body gave away to ill nurishment and heat of summer. The day he fell there on the sidewalk in Atlas Park is the day he was picked up and rushed to Chiron Medical Center, carried in on a strange purple blanket by a concerned citizen.

Time spent at Chiron was the start of his new life, he stayed there in the hospital wing for abandoned superpowered children (a sad yet common thing). While there, under the care of a Doctor Marcus O'Neil, he learned to harnass his telepathic and telekinetic abilities in order to nuture and suture wounds. After six years spent here he is well known with all the staff, considering many of it's workers as family. One of his rather large family, an experimental technician, even went as far to make the hefty gloves you can still find him wearing.

Fallon always felt he was avoiding something though, and that fateful day arrived, his birthday. It was the night before the Rikti Invasion he had intended to start work as a vigilante, having snuck out of the hospital to begin his new career choice. Something occurred that night, and that night a hero was born. The next day, out of nowhere, came The Psy-Beetle in full force as the Rikti descended from the skies around Paragon.

After the war had calmed and rebuilding had begun, Fallon registered himself under the Psy-Beetle identity and has been active ever since.

Recent Events

Most recently Fallon has returned to Chiron Medical as a nurse, working mostly at night and more or less restricting his hero activities to the day time hours.

Personality

Fallon is a very strange individual when it comes to his personality type. It varies heavily upon whom he is conversing with. Summarized, if you don't like talking to him, he is not going to like talking to you. Unlike most people this generally has to do with his telepathy, and his ability to leech emotions from others when not concentrating. Plus, who would like talking to you while your calling them such rude names in your head.

Generally around those he cares to concentrate around, and not immediately invade the heads of, he is care free and the occassional joker. Though none of his jokes are very good, most people laugh anyway to be polite.

Goals

Fallon is driven to find out what happened to the other experiments of Dexiris Laboratories, namely his genetic twin who he has very little recognition of. Thus far Crey Industries (who purchased Dexeris Labs some time ago) has not allowed anyone access to the files concerning any of the Experiements, including the file on #388 (Fallon himself).

Hobbies

It may be deemed oddly clique of any super hero type, but Fallon spends the majority of his free time helping others. That is to say, not just the injured he would normally be assisting. As Psy-Beetle he has been frequently sighted helping out the more 'fresh' heroes of Paragon City, showing them the ropes more or less, and keeping them out of to much trouble.

Abilities

Powers

Telekinesis: Psy-Beetle has the ability to not only move things with his mind, but to also concentrate this ability into a strong impact burst. Thus far the peak of his abilities have been lifting an entire chunk of a city street during the Rikti war to toss at a incoming ship, thought he'll never admit to damaging said street.

Telepathy: As with most Psychic's in Paragon City, Psy-Beetle has the ability to read thoughts and feelings (though that falls under Empathy more so that Telepathy). Most often this talent is used to read the battlefield in combat and keep check on how his teammates are operating. It is occassionally used to read what females are thinking about him.. because no one is perfect.

Equipment

Gloves

Perhaps the staple feature of his costume (besides his unique mask/cape combo) are the gloves that Psy-Beetle can be found wearing even when he's retired for the night, though in a different shade than when out crime fighting (gunmetal black, goes with everything).

These nifty pieces of equipment were engineered specifically for Fallon's useage, you most likely would not ever catch another hero even trying to where them.. even the other psychic powered fellows. The hands of these gloves are actually solid metal, besides the joints, and do not operate using any kind of motor or normal means of power what so ever, they are completely operated by Fallon's mind.. a trick that took a good year to learn.

Since his actual hands were rendered virtually useless long ago, and are not a pretty sight either, they have been stored in the more hefty mid section of these gloves. One could say that the middle of the glove is the actual glove itself. A vent system built throughout the middle keeps his hands from becoming to clamy or dry.

The actual design, which may remind people of a actual beetle shell, is completely unintentional.

Affiliations

Friends

Libertyman: He and Psy-Beetle met during the large influx of new memberships into The Defenders of Paragon in mid-2004. During a year long stretch the two operated as a duo, or Hero & Sidekick depending on who you ask, requiring very little outside assistance and making many arrests in the consideraly short (as far as heroic operations go) length of time they spent working with one another.

Once the two have finally received their Level 50 Security Clearance badges, Libertyman began to start wearing his heroic colors less. Needless the say their duoing days had reached a end. Occasinally the two will meet up for a reunion of sorts.

Alternate's

Psy-Beetle Z

In a alternate universe parallel to our own, Doctor Vahzilok had years ago finally suceeded in his uprising. In his wake he killed almost every hero in Paragon City and then upon victory began to create a new army from the freshly dead. Many heroes were barely altered unlike his past experiments, they were simply risen as they were to fight in his army.

This unintentionally gave way to their ability to remember, starting with Psy-Beetle. As he began to remember the last days of their heroics and the fight against Vahz, his telepathy spread out the images to the surrounding heroes and sped up the process of remembrance for all. Vahziloks creations consumed him, and vowed to stop him from doing it anywhere else. Their first destination for Vahzilok's next downfall, the Virtueverse.

Three Eighty Eight

In much the same way our Psy-Beetle was considered a failure, the Three Eighty Eight (T.E.E.) of this world was a complete a utter sucess.. but was not so care free or loving. He destroyed his creators, took control of his fellow experiements and eveloped Paragon City under the terror of The Experiments.

Only one Experiment could fight his control, Three Eighty Six (T.E.S.). The downfall of his plans, T.E.S. would soon rebel and stop his plans to visit other universes and combine the experiments of those worlds with his army. Instead T.E.E. and T.E.S. alone were tossed through the portal at Portal Corp in a duel, when they arrived they found there powers both weakened by the explosion and venture through the portal, and the other missing from sight. Three Eighty Eight is now bidding his time, while Three Eighty Six seeks him out.
