A Hero Gone Villain

Sam the Claw was once a respected do-gooder of Paragon City. He was well-liked, had many friends, and while he did not enjoy being a 'hero,' he had no problem lending his super-powered hands to help a citizen in distress. (All work is subject to change as I work on him.)

The Mental Mistake

The trouble began when Sam's sanity slowly drifted away as his power progressed and changed. He began to lose control over them, an excess amount of energy was released each time he regenerated and the results of said energy were too destructive for him to continue fighting crime or staying with his comrades. So, in a selfish sacrifice he used the enormous inheritance to build himself a facility where he would spend three months hoping his powers would calm. This proved to be a serious error in his judgment as his loss of contact with everyone warped his mind. Doctors believe he now has a sort of psychosis.

The Delusions

In this time of mind alteration, the massive amounts of energy released were stored in the facility he created. These energies began to cloud his outlook and caused a terrifying mentality. He believes now that he is a mutant, a race better than humans, the next dominant race on Earth. Humans are filth that ceased evolving long ago and will be lost in the annals of time when his people finally rise up. Of course, there are problems with his theory, however his own mutant genes continue to morph and mold, even now. He used to be restricted to bone manipulation and cellular regeneration, but now he is experimenting with the possibilities of flight.

The Arrest

After all of these realizations, he could no longer lock himself in a four-sided metal building. It was time to prove to the world his claims. He left the 'safety' of his containment manor and began to preach his word to all mutants who would hear him. In time he gathered a sizable number of his 'brother and sisters' and went to raid a Paragon Police precinct. Everyone who stood with him is now deceased or jailed for immeasurable years. Sam himself was sent to the Zigg for his part in leading the others for life, which in his case, is eternity. You see, they went to destroying the police in the most inhuman malicious ways known to them: So came the name 'Sam the Shredder.'

The Breakout

Like every villain sent to the Zigg, Sam escaped with the help of Arachnos. He was released from his cell and proceeded to rend his saviors into pieces and catch a ride from an aircraft by jumping off the roof and onto it. He landed in Mercy, much to his dismay. He found the silver-lining however, discovering that this was a new beginning for his cause.

Personality

Summary

Sam is no longer completely sane. Fortunately he knows he is insane, which makes him all the more dangerous. He despises humanity, but also knows that to reach his goal he must enlist their aid and even befriend them if need be. All mutants are his brothers and sisters, he treats them with respect not found for a single other existence on the planet or otherwise. He also has a disgusting fascination with eviscerating bodies in a near art-like form.

Cerebral Comrades

Unfortunately for Sam's sanity two being have materialized within the recesses of his mind. One calls itself 'Bonez' while the other is simply 'Doctor.' It would be simple to believe that these 'people' (the term is used lightly) were created in the image of his own powers, while that is a simple concept, it is likely true. He consults them upon many matters, and seeing as they are only visible to him and mind-readers, it is these two that sometimes fuel his insanity. It also would be good to note that while they are being of his mind, they are more of 'imaginary friends' rather than personalities.

Bonez

Sam's mind was once tampered with by a villian, causing lose of control to his bone manipulation. Primal instict took over and the bones created a protective shell around his body in the shape of some undiscovered creature complete with a tail and multiple boney claws and quill-like defenses. This happening best would describe Bonez. A beast more than a man. Sam, of course, was returned to normal from that state, Bonez, however is that creature. A silent predator, a force of primal fury, a born killer. He is not the most civilized, but he is clever like a fox. A twisted, boney, sadistic fox.

Doctor

Sam went to a medical college after discovering his regeneration, in hopes of finding way to put the abilities in his body to better use. He never found what he was looking for but left with a basic understanding of anatomy and medicine. This is the Doctor. A booksmart physical man who, in Sam's eyes, takes the shape of his grandfather. He is Sam's voice of reason and also one of his greatest assets. While Sam only subconsciously remembers where the bones are the weakest, the Doctor was created in that part of the mind, allowing him to 'tell' Sam where to strike a foe for the greatest effect.

Powers

Bone Manipulation

Every bone in Sam's body bends to his will. Quite literally. While being harder than many of the metals and substances on Earth, he is able to make them malleable, extend their length, launch them at high speeds, and even morph their shape. And, due to his cellular regeneration (discussed below), the bones he uses are replaced by his second power. He currently wears his bones as his clothing, which only shows exactly how able he is to control them.

Cellular Regeneration

Just as every bones bends to his will, every cell in his body contains an organelle only found in him to date. These tiny pieces of his cells function independently from his brain, and have a sort of artificial intelligence that causes them to know when to regenerate, how to regenerate, what to replace, and when to cease the actions. Oddly enough, and still unexplainable today, they release a stored gas that takes on a green glow when met with air, and is converted into a source of energy for the organelles to use for their tasks.

Recent Developments

As stated above, these cells release a gas that is converted into energy. This energy, when not being used (as much is created but never utilized for regeneration) is released throughout his body causing minor flashes green light. This energy, he has found, is powerful enough to lift his body off the ground, and with the ability to make his bones hollow, he is currently working on enabling flight. He has also found that this energy reacts negatively to some element in the air and reacts violently in other bodies. By impailing foes with his bones, his is also leaving behind trace amounts of his cells, which produce the gas until they die. They affect the other body in a way similar to poison.
