Biography

Code Name: Stellar Flair

AKA: Stellar

Affiliation: Young Sentinels

Current Rank: Field Commander

Personality

Dana's greatest fear and greatest ambition both revolve around her 'dreadfully ordinary life'. The discovery of the devices which give her her powers has catapulted her from a humdrum ordinary existence, where the most important things deal with being in the popular group at school (she wasn't), boys, and homework, to one where she battles evil-doers, flies through the skies, and has an impact on the world far out of proportion to her previous life.

The fear of having to return to her old life and lose all of the new things she has found is a constant presence in her mind, particularly since her low self-esteem equates losing her powers with losing everything that makes her worthwhile.

History

In the Beginning

Dana was an average girl, living an average life. Her parents had average middle-class jobs, her grades at school were steady B's and C's, life had a steady sameness to it that was both reassuring and frustrating.

But Dana's ordinary life was changed the day that her science class went on a field trip. They had been studying geology, and the teacher had arranged for the class to tour a nearby cave system. As the guide rambled on about sedimentary layers and how water would wear away the softer stone, Dana was distracted by a tiny flashing light off to her right, in one of the side passages. Thinking that perhaps someone had dropped their cell phone, Dana acted with uncharacteristic impulsiveness and ducked under the barrier and went towards the light. As soon as she got near it she knew she'd made a mistake, as the ground beneath her gave way and she slid through the suddenly loose dirt and rock, tumbling into darkness.

When she awoke, she had no idea how much time had passed. Barely able to see in the illumination of the flashing light, which she could now see was one of the battery-powered warning lights the guide had told them about, just very low on power, she spent a long, terrified moment realizing that she was buried under a mountain of rock.

Once she gained control of herself, she set about exploring, using the weak light of the lamp to guide her. One leg was badly bruised, but she forced herself to move, hoping against hope that she'd find a passage leading out. While examining the way she came, she was amazed when her hand brushed against what seemed to be worked metal. Upon closer examination, she had found a metal case, half-buried in the debris. The light was too dim to make out what seemed to be writing etched into the metal, but the clasp opened easily to her touch. Within, she found a pair of metal gloves, boots, a belt and a headband. Deciding that the gloves would at least protect her hands if she had to dig, she put them on. She had a moment of panic as the gloves fit themselves snugly to her hands. An instant later, a glow enveloped her, lighting up the cavern. Not only that, but her leg suddenly felt 100% better.

She quickly realized that the items might well be able to get her out of her predicament. Putting them all on, she found her way out of the caverns, hiding the case on the school bus before finding her classmates, who were all standing about the entrance. After the required amount of fussing and questions, and showing the staff where she had come out, she was taken home by her worried parents.

Since then, Dana has experimented with the devicecs, unlocking a few of their abilities. Taking the name 'Stellar Flair', she has started heroing, finding it a perfect antidote to her ordinary, average life. Her greatest fear, one which she refuses to admit, even to herself, is that her devices will stop working or be stolen, regulating her back to her dull, average life.

Theft

The recent theft of her devices while she was out of town with her parents sent Stellar into a spiral of despair. Only the steadfast support of her boyfriend and team-mate, Rad Lad, and the encouragement of the Young Sentinels' group leader, Night Stranger, kept her from just giving up and abandoning her new life to its fate.

Working with data supplied by the Sentinels, Stellar has tracked down the group that purchased her devices from the thieves, and with the help of her team-mates and a few refurbished trophies from their base, is planning to take back her devices, her powers, and her future.

Abilities

Illusion

Stellar's headband converts her mental commands into both physical and mental force. Not only is it able to impose a feigned sense of injury on her opponents, often causing them to pass out from imaginary wounds, but of late she has been able to manifest psychokinetic figures, each taking on the aspect of a heroic archtype, when then fight for her.

Radiation

Stellar's gauntlets are designed for the absorption and emission of various types of radiation. In addition to being able to weaken and damage her opponents with powerful bursts of radiation, Stellar has also learned to harness the gauntlets' energy to repair injuries, either to herself or her allies.

Flight

Stellar's boots have minor gravitational control. Initially this manifested as a sliding effect when running, but further practice allowed her to actually become airborne, and finally to fly.

Other Notes

Stellar's belt seems to be a power source for the other items. No other use has yet been discovered.
