Thunderbird

Thunderbird is a majestic creature who is storm incarnate. His wings are dark clouds, his beak and claws lightning, and his cries the clap of thunder. He is a primal force, often savage but necessary to the survival of the land and the continuation of the circle of life. Thunderbird is a force to be respected and approached with great care, lest his anger be roused.

Personality

Volatile

Jase has a very volatile personality. He may be calm and enjoying himself one moment, then, without warning, may explode into a rage at the slightest provocation. If he has no reason to reign himself in, this rage may last hours.

Vengeful

Jase is not above taking revenge on those who've slighted him. If something of his is stolen, he will move heaven and earth to get it back. If he is wounded, he will not stop until his wounder is shown that doing such things it not a good idea. If threatened, he will make sure the threat is removed.

Justice

Stormy Jase
Though some might Jase as lacking morals or a conscience, he has displayed a very strong sense of justice. He refuses to harm someone if they have given him no reason to. He balks at someone being punished for something they did not do.

Lawless

Jase sees little use for modern law. While he understands a possible need for some sort of order, the extent to which governments choke their citizens is seen by him as abhorrent. He lives mostly outside the scope of law, only superficially bowing to the government and law enforcement.

Background

Youth

Jason Macus Cassifer never knew his father. He wishes he never knew his mother, too. From the time he was capable of thought, he knew he was merely an inconvenience to his mother. She fed him and took care of him, but put in only the minimal effort in doing so.

Thus, when she was too busy putting on makeup in the rear view mirror and drove into the car in front of her, she didn't hesitate to consider the man's offer. The man, Hector Brightclaw, was a shaman. He could see within the young boy the spark of light indicative of one Chosen by the Spirits. He told the woman he would ignore the incident if she would relinquish custody of the boy to him. She didn't hesitate.

Jason, therefore, spent most of his childhood under the care of Brightclaw and his wife. Before the training began, Brightclaw already knew who had chosen the young boy. Thunderbird was not a subtle spirit. Though the child came to use the nickname Jase, others in the community liked to call him Stormy Jase, due to his volatile personality.

Shaman

Brightclaw began training Jase when the boy was twelve. His public schooling was dropped in favor of incorporating his shamanic training and schoolwork within the same environment. However, Jase was only in the beginning stages of his training when Brightclaw was fatally wounded. Brightclaw and his wife, Donna, were minding their own business when they were caught in the crossfire of rival gangs. Despite his magical protection, Brightclaw wasn't able to save himself. He was, however, able to keep his wife from harm.

Jase didn't take the news well. He lost control of his power and electrical energy erupted all over his form. His eyes burst with electricity, the color becoming the solid white they are today. He stormed out the door and tracked down the two gangs responsible. He tracked the gangers down, one by one. Not a single member of either group was alive a week later. After his revenge was sated, he was too ashamed to go back to his home.

Unknown to Jase, Donna was just glad he was so close to his Totem. Though she wanted very much to reach out to the young shaman, she knew it would be unwise. Thus, she left Detroit. If it was to be, Jase would come find her himself. If it wasn't, she was in no position to argue with the Spirits. When Jase found out she was leaving, he broke in to the house and took those things of his he wanted and left the rest for Donna to take care of or throw out.

Business

Business
Despite his volatile personality, Jase was able to develope working relationships with several people. With his arcane capabilities, he could sense what objects were and were not actually magical. Using this capablility, he began moving magical tiems. Legal, illegal, he didn't particularly care. People came to him with a request, he delivered. For a fee of course.

This trade caught the attention of people in organized crime. He was invited to join a few crime organizations, but he refused. He needed his neutrality. He did, however, start offering more than just his acquisition capabilies. Setting up a talismongering business as a front, he became a mercenary of the streets.

However, he was hired to assassinate an innocent man, simply because he refused to give in to threats. Jase couldn't do it. Though he had been capable of exacting revenge and murding many gangers, he could not bring himself to murder an innocent. He, then, helped the man escape assassination, himself incurring the wrath of the crime lord in the process.

Leaving Detroit

Jase was soon captured by the crime lord's thugs and brought in to face the man and accept his "sentence." There were many gathered there to witness Jase's death. An example of what happens when you don't do what you're paid to. It was when the crime lord slapped him during a posturing speech that Jase lost control. His body exploded with electricity, killing those near him and severely injuring those farther away. He was no longer bound and fled while the shock of what had happened kept those present incapacitated.

Jase knew he coudln't stay in Detroit any longer. He picked up the few things he required from his home and fled the city. He made his way toward Paragon City. There he registered as a hero under the name Stormy Jase while also setting up new arcane acquisition contacts. Setting himself up as a talismonger, he settled in Paragon City while extending his trafficking contacts all along the Eastern Seaboard.
