The homeworld of <<Cal'tok kor'xan Thaxa>>, commonly known to the media as Incredibubble, is fourth in orbit around the half of the binary starsystem designated by Terran astronomers as Alpha Centauri A. Demographic and sociological data follow.

Historical Notes

α Cen A-IV is known to its inhabitants (henceforth referred to as "Thaxites") as Thaxa. The name they chose for their homeworld honours Saris Thaxa, the Wise One - a female member of the dominant race on the planet who taught all Thaxites how to link to one another in a form of collective consciousness.

Until Saris the Wise established psionic linkage among all her people, the Thaxite race was prone to violence, tribal dispute, and generally destructive behaviour. A few generations later, the Thaxite population had discovered a love of learning and social nature that had gone ignored over centuries of constant in-fighting. Thus began the technological revolution on Thaxa, which eventually led to space-travel and exploration as well as philosophy, music, and art. The first new friends the Thaxites discovered were much like themselves when they began - violent, tribally organised bipedal creatures from a nearby little blue planet orbiting a yellow star (also, not unlike home).

This planet was Earth, twenty-five thousand years before the first Rikti invasion.

The Terran connection and the "Cloistering" of Thaxa.

Knowing that the young Terran races were not ready for the sight of men descending from the sky, the Thaxite explorers maintained a respectful, but close distance. They watched, for a long time, and occasionally made observations, but chose to hide in "plain sight" and allow the humans to develop unchecked.

Occasionally, the humans did notice a Thaxite presence - sometime around Terran common year 1947, the American air force spotted a small Thaxite expedition over the New Mexico desert. Their fighters gave chase and managed to force one of the small, round exploration vessels to land over the border, in a remote section of Nevada. The pilot of the Thaxite craft was never heard from again, although his two companions managed to escape. Thaxite observation equipment hidden within the Bermuda Triangle has been known to foul Terran navigational devices as well, although this was never intentional.

Other, less well-armed humans also encountered the odd Thaxite now and then. Most of these were isolated, hermit-like people that lived in mobile homes or remote areas of the woods. None were ever harmed, nor allowed to remember much of their visit with the "extraterrestrials", but some accounts described the inside of Thaxite exploration craft quite accurately. Around this time, Thaxa's ruling body began to notice that astronomy on Earth was growing by leaps and bounds. If something was not done, the homeworld would be discovered and the easily-frightened humans might do something rash in perceived self-defence. To this end, a way to use the group-consciousness and Thaxite psionic powers to "hide" the homeworld from observation was devised - this event became known as "The Cloistering". Circa Terran common year 1973, concurrent with the Terran launch of Skylab, Thaxa vanished from sight. It would remain hidden from view, although its people continued observing Terra, until Terran common year 2875.
Skylab, the observatory that began to concern the Wise Ones of Thaxa and led to the Cloistering.
