(( Walker's backstory is fairly long and involved due to his age, and includes events that have happened long ago on other worlds and experiences in-game. It will take a while to write it all, so please bear with me ))

Beginning

Walker was born amidst titanic debate halls and immense, echoing libraries that had been carved into the inside of a mountain in a land that has no analogue in Primal Earth due to differences in geological formations caused millions of years ago. On this world, dragons still thrived, mostly in hidden places where no human would bother trying to settle. The Kifal Kevessa (lit. "Grey Spines"), however, were a clan of dragons who found themselves discovered by human beings who would come seeking wisdom. Having the wisdom of centuries by this point, and having acclimated to different types of territorial behavior due to closer confines of the mountain, the Kifal Kevessa's natural draconic inclination towards narcissism was the last component complete to create the world's first academic institution. Mostly a place for the the ancient beings to jostle for position in an emerging hierarchy, the accumulated knowledge was recorded and humans began to inhabit to mountain as students, scholars, and caretakers. Most importantly, they read to the dragons, allowing the mountainous creatures to further learn and formulate new ways in which to compete in their contest of academic posturing.

This sort of environment, like all college environments, eventually led to teachers sleeping with their students. The problems of physical incompatibility were made obsolete with shape-changing spells, and eventually children of mixed blood were born in large numbers after the development of a ritual that combined the essences of the two races in a safe, controllable way. These half-breeds had nearly the same longevity and magical ability as their draconic parent, and their bodies tended towards a trim human shape, albeit with gray skin pebbled by sleek scales on the chest and arms. Nearly a new species in themselves, the half-breeds were the most likely to spend years away from the mountain at a time, only to return with new knowledge of history, magic, and the world outside.

Walker was born to a full-blooded Greyspike dragon and a human sorceress. His father, a dragon of some four thousand years, already had several Half-breed and full-breed offspring, while his mother had given birth to another full-blooded human boy several years earlier. Walker was, to his father's disappointment, born without wings, as is occasionally the case with Half-breeds. In an unusual fit of anger, the old drake named the infant Kifel Kevess'vaust Rerkic (Lit. "Grey-Spike-Who-Crawls"), grumbling that he'd be able to identify the boy among his other children best that way.

In a story that well describes Walker's personality, it only took young Rerkic seven years before he walked into his father's chamber as the older dragon was preparing for a debate and lifted into the air by magic, a feat that most adult mages can't perform. With glowing eyes feigning disinterest, his father said that he'd decided that the boy has earned a new name: Kevess'vaust Zhinic, or "Greyspike-Who-Walks". Then he shooed the newly rechristened Zhinic away without further comment.

From that day forth, the young Half-breed never allowed his feet to touch the ground in his father's presence.

The next twenty years went by in a blur as Zhinic devoted himself to his magical studies, showing a natural talent for ritual spells and mental disciplines like telepathy and telekinesis. All the while, he jockeyed for position with his other dragon-blooded siblings and studied the disciplines of the Four Lords Religion. By twenty-three, Walker had already written a full grimoire and published a book on the importance of non-violence, which made strong arguments for the belief of the innate goodness of sentient beings, rather than being naturally evil or simply neutral. By the time he was twenty-nine, he was well on his way to adulthood and had been given permission to leave the mountain on an expedition to hunt for lost magic. As he was about to leave, his father offered him a new name, but Zhinic grinned and said that it could wait until his safe return.

He had only been gone a year when he found the lost spell he'd been seeking, and Zhinic had happily grown in ability while using his knowledge for survival on a day-to-day basis. On his way home, he heard that a sect of humans bent on destroying Dragonkind's threat was seen marching in force towards his home mountain, but even after driving himself past the point of exhaustion, he collapsed in front of a cave opening reeking of burning paper and blood. Seeking survivors, he ventured into the stinking caverns that had been a place of learning for millennia, but ran into a party of looters who were setting fire to his tribe's great library. In the ensuing fight, Zhinic killed eighteen men and women and suffered several gashes from wildly firing arrows. After an exhausting search, the bleeding Half-breed left the caverns and demolished every support structure he knew of. As the mountain sagged, he burned the last record of the Kifel Kevessa into the side of his family's tomb before walking away.

With nothing left to tie himself to the world, Zhinic used the spell he'd spent the last year searching for, a spell that allows one to walk from one world to another.

He took five steps, and then vanished.
