Overview

Omara Connor was born the eldest and only daughter of Five children in Louisiana and became an infamous tomboy in her neighborhood until she turned sixteen. Over the course of several months her biology started shifting, taking in and internalizing more biological matter from the environment around her and leading her to experience an increasing and steady malaise until a major "burst" event occurred. During a normal school day she began to rapidly and aggressively mutate. Reacting to the people around her, she changed monstrously powerful state and her biochemical balance increasingly shifted her demeanor towards aggression. Feeling the encroaching loss of control she rampaged away from her classmates and holed up in an abandoned building, trying to bring the entire structure down around her to permanently prevent herself from doing any more harm.

Fortunately for her, local hero Hounder was on the scene and utilized his abilities to subdue her even as she grew ever more powerful. After the dust settled he offered to sponsor her development under his FBSA registration and she operated as his sidekick for the remainder of her high-school years and through the Rikti Wars. After a Falling out with Hounder she moved on to work with Longbow, G.I.F.T., and Vanguard as a Mutant-hunting specialist, utilizing her near-Indestructibility, Exponentially Growing Strength, and Mutant-tracking Sense to find, and, if necessary, eliminate extremely high-risk mutant targets. Several years of black-ops began to take it's toll on her spirit, and she quit to take various jobs in construction, security, and finally, a career in pro- Wrestling as "Topdog" before finally finding her way To Paragon and a new life as a "superhero"

History

Pariah

Omara was the first child in her family and took on a great many responsibilities in her traditionalist household. Her local activist father insisting the women of the family tend to the home. After the birth of the twins, her life became more frustrating as she and her mother gained even more weight on their shoulders. As the oldest of the growing family she took on a role as protector of her younger brothers, and by extension her own reputation. Entering her teens only exacerbated this, getting in fights and trouble at school while clashing with her father at home. As her Mutant genes activated and began taking on more and more genetic information from her surroundings, her body slowly built up an "immunity" to human beings. It finally peaked in the middle of class with Omara violently mutating to a post-human state. As she could feel the shift taking place, she rushed away from class, destroying a good chunk of the school in her wake as her strength increased exponentially. Surrounded by Human "prey" and slowly losing control, she crashed into the emptiest building she could find and began smashing it from the inside, trying to work out her destructive urges and bring the building down on her if she couldn't.

Local reports of the rampaging monster reached the ears of the local vigilante, The Hounder, and he brought his pack of specially engineered Super dogs and the full force of his own sonic abilities down on her. The fight lasted for over an hour and destroyed the entire pack, until he managed to vibrate the inside of her skull to such intensity that it scrambled her brains. With "The Monster" finally subdued and presumed dead, Hounder moved to clean up, only to discover that she had been developing defenses against his abilities the entire fight. Still clinging on to life, she reached up to him and begged him to not let her hurt anyone else and passed out. She awoke several hours later in a power suppression field in a FBSA facility, Being watched over by her parents and The Hounder. They explained what had happened and the changes that would be taking place in her life from here on. Hounder offered to cover the damage costs and the expenses for the new power-dampening collar. She returned home and thought long and hard. Her normal life was over. She hadn't given much thought to the path she was on but she knew she had been forcibly shifted to a new one.

Guard Dog

Omara worked with the Hounder throughout her remaining High-school years and during the Rikti War. Over time their partnership became strained due to the obvious Fasicistic aspects of controlling their hometown via an army of powerful animals to "Keep The Peace", and the growing realization that he was at least in part taking advantage of her presence as an "Unstoppable monster" to deflect consequences for his actions. Their conflict came to a head when during a heated physical altercation he attempted to use his sonic powers to influence her mind. She disbanded their partnership and enlisted with Freedom Corps shortly thereafter.

Bloodhound

Omara's unique abilities and prior experience helped her quickly move through Longbow's ranks. Very soon Freedom Corps had employed her as a mutant Assassin. With the tracking aspect of her mutation, she could easily identify and find specific Mutations. With the presumed-boundless power and durability afforded by her "reaction" to Mutated DNA, she could take on nearly any conceivable mutant threat, possibly indefinitely, until it was dead.

Longbow tasked her with a list of various overpowered bounties to pursue ,apprehend, or eliminate. In addition She would periodically go on black-ops missions to discover and exterminate mutants deemed too devastatingly destructive and uncontrollable to let live. Omara went on numerous missions such as this for Longbow while running through her list. These missions steadily began wearing on her spirit, finding herself forced to extra-judicially execute several more or less innocent mutants to protect the general public from their terrible powers. After reaching the end of her hit list by capturing the infamous mutant psychopath, The Flarebeast in a cataclysmic and brutal encounter, She decided her tour of duty was over and retired from Longbow, moving back home, hoping to find peace.

Pitbull

After returning to New Orleans she stayed home for a time in a depressive state before she built up the will to pursue employment in the private sector. Taking odd jobs in manual labor and doing her best to tolerate her parents and avoid The Hounder, she drifted through her days. When the Mutant Extreme Wrestling promotion came into town, she was hired to assist in the set-up and to work security.

Among the performers there was an undercard Speedster named Breakbeat, looking to make a name for herself, she saw in the monstrously strong and imposing Omara the potential for a massive boost to her profile. After much haranguing, and an astonishing amount of liquor, Breakbeat was able to convince the Mutant Apex Predator to charge the ring during the top card match and attack, only for Breakbeat to swoop in and defeat the monstrous intruder. This routine gained massive popularity both among the local community and online, enough that Omara was officially employed by MXW(and Breakbeat became a new MXW championship holder for her trouble). Omara began performing under the persona of The Top Dog, an unstoppable monster that appeared in the way to beat any potential champions into submission. Used sparingly due to not being much of a performer, she still gained a loyal follower as a fearsome Heel in MXW's stable.

This gained the attention of many of the younger members of Nation, who viewed her depiction as a monosyllabic beast as "problematic" on several levels, from the Slasher Movie Villain/Dominatrix image she projected to the ease with which many other wrestlers would use the phrase "huge bitch" in trash talk and promos. The Evolved Blogosphere began to campaign against Mutant Extreme Wrestling's online presence. Furthermore, several surviving members of her Longbow Hitlist who had been sent to Secundus during her career, and were eager to see her taken down a peg, encouraged the focus of the socially conscious Evolved onto The Top Dog.

Watchdog

While on tour in Paragon. The eager and organized evolved community in the City of Heroes made their showing, booing literally every wrestler and ruining everything they could. After this massive disruption, The owner of MXW made his decision and asked Omara to leave. Omara promptly threw him out the window, negating his offer to give her a ride home. Stranded in Paragon, she took her dufflebag, and what money she had and hunted out the nearest bar. While there, she overheard a nearby Superhuman bragging about having short circuited his house arrest anklet and escaping parole, a quick search on her cellphone revealed an open bounty for him, and, quickly drinking her money away, she decided to put him through a wall and drag him to the nearest police station.

The return was substantial and, not much wanting to return home, she began a short-lived career as a bounty hunter. After quickly pursuing several bounties and renting an apartment, she was served a summons. Her first bounty was a self-identified member of Nation, and had employed some of their lawyers in hopes of using her violent arrest as grounds to dismiss his case. Viewing this as yet another instance of the Evolved Movement pursuing a personal vendetta, she stormed into The Paragon Priory, Growling, yelling, and threatening her way into an Audience with The Androgyne. Arguing extensively, she somehow ended up bamboozled into becoming Nation's newest member, working as a Search and Rescue specialist. Heavens only knows what the future holds for The Watch-dog

Personality

Omara Connor Has been through a great deal in her life, this leads to a general weariness with the world around her. Raised as the eldest of five, and the only girl, she has a strong protective instinct towards those she views as friends and/or family, tempered with a gruff, "tough love" approach. Omara views her mutation as something of an unpleasant and dangerous medical condition, no doubt exacerbated by the use of a power-suppressing collar and a steady prescription of chemical counter-agents to live something as close to a normal life as she can.

Due to her visible mutations and a somewhat unhealthy apprenticeship with Hounder in the ins and outs of "Monsterism"(his archaic term for mutation) she has a mostly sarcastic and accepting attitude to people's perception of her, frequently beating people to the chance to insult her with self deprecation, and not letting casual insults get to her. Usually.

Powers

Watch-dog's primary Mutation are highly developed, Pro-active, Lyphatic and Endocrine systems. Her body can take in even the slightest bit of genetic information via her lungs and skin, which her body will immediately identify and "profile" the Human or Mutant from which it originates.

Exposure to these foreign antigens, mutant DNA in particular, triggers a "Reaction" that causes her body to synthesize hormones and chemicals, and antibodies that artificially enhance her, making her Stronger, Faster, more Resilient, and otherwise Uniquely Adapted to resist and overcome the potentially threatening attributes of the "Foreign body". In addition, her body begins altering her hormonal balance to make her increasingly aggressive towards the source of the antigens until she attacks and eliminates the threat.

The over-abundance of Sapiens DNA in the general environment has "Locked" Omara into a monstrous base state far beyond the maximum potential of Humanity in Strength, Resilience, Regeneration, Durability, Size, and general Sensory Perception.

Upon taking in the genetic information of a mutant, she can track it and identify the type of mutation via how her body reacts to the mutation. She can also utilize her generally enhanced senses in more conventional ways to suss out targets.

Equipment

Watch-dog's Biker-inspired gear is composed of a combination of Kevlar, flame retardant treated Leather, and Stretch Paneling. Due to her inherent durability, the outfit is more designed to protect her own modesty as a front-lines combatant who often finds herself doused in flames, shot, stabbed, and occasionally growing in size.

Her mask is a gift given to her by the Hounder. Built into it is an advanced HUD and earpiece, that interfaces with various Heroic Information networking technology to help her stay active in communication channels.

Around her neck Omara wears a customized Power-Dampening collar. Her collar operates primarily by steadily emitting anti-mutagenic energy pulses into her skin, preventing her body from shifting in response to genetic antigens. This effect can be deactivated in stages, allowing her to ramp up her power while maintaining a certain degree of control.

In addition, her collar is lined with emergency anti-hormonal cartridges that inject her upon re-activation of the collar to counteract her reaction's aggressive influence after being allowed to take hold for the maximum increase in power, at the expense of her self-control.
