Skills and Powers:

Trained in multiple styles of Martial Arts, Wu Fong is known to be a master of Eagle Claw Wu Shu, Tai Chi, Jeet Kun Do, Kyudo, and perhaps many more. As such he is extremely lethal in hand to hand combat both in duels and against medium sized groups. His strict training regiment of several hours including those days he is on duty has left Fong with exceptional stamina, speed of movement, and acrobatic agility. It is common of students of Iron Body Kung Fu to develop an above average threshold for pain along long with a strong epidermis. Thus it is not surprising that Mr. Fong is rarely seen with bloody knuckles even after assaults against mechanized foes.

Precision is the best word to describe Wu Fong’s unique application of the Martial Arts. His technique in both strikes and stances is near flawless with no short cuts being made in terms of “street fighting.” Yet it is executed with an accuracy and flexibility for it to seem natural. Most students learn there is a difference between form and function, however that does not seem to be the case with this warrior. At one moment it could be the hardness of Karate, fluidity of Kung Fu or efficiency of Maui Tai, in order to draw enough power and speed for the exact task at hand.

Chui Kai Qiang

It seems early in his heroing career that Wu Fong learned the advantage of being skilled at ranged combat. He has turned against the classical distain of fire arms, instead adapting them into his fighting style with use of the popular Beretta 92F 9mm pistol. More impressively is his known use of the Glock 18, an extremely rare machine 9mm pistol capable of full automatic fire and rarely seen within the United States. Prior to the Rikti War, Fong frequently used not one but two of these pistols in a duel wielding fashion. His speed and accuracy in ether fire mode is uncanny and quickly earned him the title Adept.

In an effort to encourage safe use of fire arms both among the Citizen Population and Hero Community, Wu Fong has been known to offer training classes. Further more, it is believed that he is developing a new martial art designed around the capabilities of close range strikes and precision long range attacks. This style is named Chui Kai Qiang Wu Shu which translates to beat with the fist, fire a gun. It is still a work in progress which others have dubbed ‘Gun Fu,’ but is an attempt to legitimize the pistol as weapon as much as the short sword, spear, or shuriken.

Based on observation, it would seem he is not only a well trained warrior but also quality instructor. Most of his time is consumed by his hero occupation, which is currently under contract with Hero Corps. This strain has proven difficult, but it is believed his ambition is to open a full time school for junior, street level heroes. With a market highly saturated by individuals willing to perform as a free public service, Mr. Fong is under tight budgetary constraints so the development of such a teaching position seems highly unlikely for the short term.

Yan li Chi

Most religions hold to the belief that the human body is more than just a physical entity, but rather possesses certain supernatural qualities. Like wise, many philosophers have stated that a person is more than the sum of his organs, whose personality is the expression of spirit or soul. In the Far East, this is coupled to the concept of Chi, an invisible internal energy which links the mind to the body forming their life essence. Through a deep understanding of their Chi, individuals have demonstrated extraordinary feats of human strength and mental focus.

Some metas in recent history have proven capable of sensing other individuals by tapping into then locating their mystical energies. Fong has proven to be an expert, that all others are compared to. This is not a small boast, but the simple fact is that the Wu Shu Warrior is blind. His eyes have no functional capability with a white iris; his entire childhood was spent in the study of Yan li Chi. All living creatures from men to bacteria create an aura which he is able to translate into a three hundred sixty degree vision.

This ability is not perfect. Similar to a thermodynamic sensor, images have been described as wavy under sudden movements. Further more the target has to be living, causing inorganic matter to be difficult. Damping is also possible, limited by distance and interference from other objects. Despite these problems, they have not limited the Adept’s ability who is a very capable hero that should not be under estimated as a gimp.

Equipment:

Under normal circumstances up until security level twenty five the Adept Wu Shu Warrior, also known as Wu Fong, operated with limited equipment. He distains the typical appearance of heroes as nonfunctional so will never be seen in spandex. Clothing consists of reinforced upper body armor, strengthened jeans perhaps a Kevlar in design, combat boots and high grip padded fingerless gloves. Included was a secure long trench style coat for concealment of his Glock 18. However, City Hall will not approve the use of these full automatic machine pistols. Further more, he has commented that with out the Glocks, the long coat felt too much like wearing a cape and has discontinued its use.

Recently Fong has acquired a contract with Hero Corps as a freelance agent. This allows him the autonomity to determine his own schedule and missions, while still benefiting from the corps status as a private vigilante firm. This also grants him access to some of their technologies. At all times he now carries with him a personal healing “tricorder” device for emergence uses. Pleased with his performance, Mr. Fong has been granted use of a prototype power suit for field testing purposes. The design enhances internal energies processed by the individual to heroic levels. From his study of Yan li Chi, the Adept proved to be an ideal candidate and has allowed him to rise to that next level. However, since it is a preliminary design it can only be used for dire situations.

Psychological Assessment:

Plain and simple, Adept is a Freelance, a Hero for Hire. As high school drop out, he began his hero work as a late teenager. After nearly ten years, the toil is starting to affect him. Originally eager to get away from the Gish of Kings Row or “Paragon’s Barrens” as he likes to call it, he now appears frustrated. Most citizens do not recognize the role of heroes since the unexpected has become a daily to them. This has translated to financial hardship, being able to barely support life as a hero since the market is so saturated by tireless do gooders. However, he has no other skills aside from firing a gun and beating up the baddies.

Adept’s personality seems to conflict with most heroes he has worked with in the past. It seems his urban upbringing has giving him a distaste for such "arrogant showoffs." Most heroes he feels does not care about the common man but rather bigger more global threats. It should be noted that in recent years, nether does Fong spending less and less time defending his home turf in hopes of better economic security. This has created little passion for the job, focusing more on mission to mission to secure that next pay check; it appears he is now stuck in a rut.

It should be noted that despite his attitude, Wu is not a villain nor likely to become one, unwilling to go above the law for his own needs. Possessing a desire to do the right thing, he also not convinced the good guys always win. Rumor has it that he has turned down an offer by Arachnos and a business opportunity at Crey Security. For now his needs have been met enough to not pursue those means. If exposed with increased hardship, it is possible that his attitude will shift. After all, in the near ten years while his status has improved his situation has not.
