- - Freddie Trumper and Walter de Courcey, from Chess: The Musical
Every day, the sun rises, the sun sets. Momentous and powerful, the massive celestial furnace is the elder brother to all that live on the planet, composed from the same previous solar events that gave rise to the planet, and through that, gave rise to its life. An ancient and eternal guardian, it feeds the world, and in the stills of the evening, about the poles, the sun puts on a light show, a brilliant feather touch from a celestial body that breathes with the force of a thousand million storms.
It is universal to all cultures on earth that their cultural roots trace back to the sun, as all life owes its presence to the sun. There is, without a doubt, this common thread throughout all lives and all cultures. Just as the sun's light warms the day, feeds life, and nurtures the world in which we live, so to do we - in our stories and our character - reflect some of that light back.

Character
Saul is an energetic young man, in the mould of an adolescent's school day; he is lazy and indolent during the day, but once the sun starts to set, he becomes more active, more eager. This means, in the context of his hero 'work' - the time spent in the guise of the Prodigal Sun - Saul runs through long, night-burning sessions where the only pause between violence being the time it takes him to race from target to target.
Saul is a creature of cycles, a man-or-boy of days and nights, and he rarely pursues great plans or has divine aspirations; it is far more likely to find him at the elbow of some other, smarter, planner, some investigator willing to direct him. His over-the-top heroics, his desire to push himself, his desire to exceed - he is very much a man defined by consuming passions... but they just as much betray that he's still very much an adolescent.
Powers
Sol is a walking, talking leyline. Research from his father uncovered the concept that, in a hugely populated civilization with a vast interconnected network of human relationships, every individual can be considered a totem of some concept that best represents their soul. Through means Sol prefers not to talk about, this research was used in a series of rituals. Sol was one of these subjects - possibly not with his father's permission, to hear the story.
Since uncovering these powers, Sol's totemic leyline was shown to be that of a Sun itself; the little brother of the sun itself. He can use this solar energy to render fire from the air around him to create a weapon and a shield out of fire and intense, glowing light. Where he steps is warmed, he sheds bright light, and when he walks along grass and other natural earth, plants and flowers bloom in his presence.

RP Notes
- Sol as a human is a fit, athletic, attractive individual who nonetheless doesn't concentrate much on anything complicated. As a Titan he's meant to be much more awe-inspiring and scary. He can use his powers in either form, it's just a matter of style to him.
- As a Titan, Sol displays less mercy, less 'normal' behaviour - he is impassive and quiet, and tends to only really 'awaken' into the field of combat.
- Sol's parents are both alive and he's generally a well-adjusted sort. He's a deal with his parents to keep doing hero work and manages night-classes and the like to try and keep his grades up.
Themes
It's by no means a complicated guess - Sol's theme is wanting. He sees it as inadequate to merely live - he wants to experience things, to claim new ground, to drive himself forward and further. Sol's capacity to achieve is expanded by his desire to do so.
Sol was inspired both by the contrast between my friend's character Accelion and my character Saxon Valiant, and further by my memories of 'secret magic word' style superheroes like Captain Marvel, and to a lesser extent Bananaman and Superted.
