Personality
Jennifer can be simultaneously dark and cynical, yet humorous when the situation provides. Burdened with the death of her family, she tends to be withdrawn at times. Consumed by a simultaneous passion to help others around her, she is also equally disillusioned and consumed with revenge for the deaths of her family at the hands of Crey Industries.
Origin
Jennifer Scott Mordin was once a happily married research scientist and engineer. Leader of her company and one of the brightest minds in science, she was on the brink of creating a perpetual energy source: Zeramite. It would end the energy question on Earth. The obstacle was its extreme instability and toxic nature, something Jennifer had been trying to overcome until a rival company cut her research short and ended the life she once knew.
Born in San Diego, California, Jennifer was raised by an upper-middle class family. Her father was a military man and her mother was a nurse. Showing a great deal of intellect and charisma from a young age, she grew up a child of logic and philosophy. A lover of science and language, she was a bookworm until her late teens. During college, Jennifer volunteered the Red Cross in lieu of the pressure from her family to learn the world outside of her pages.
During foreign aid outreach to countries, Jennifer’s values and view of the world were completely changed. She grew to understand the plight of the downtrodden in impoverished parts of Africa, joining the rebellions against tyranny. She grew headstrong, learned how to treat wounds, even taking a few of her own. Two major things struck Jennifer: The desire to help others, and the arrival of her love, David.
David was also a humanitarian with an entrepreneurial vision and to help others and the pocketbook to back it. Shortly after graduating with honors in engineering and environmental science, Jennifer helped David launch what would become one of the leading scientific leaders in energy research, Starsoar Industries.
Jennifer worked for over a decade, pioneering revolutionary research. Moving their operations to Paragon City, and in the wake of the Rikti alien invasion, Jennifer synthesized and discovered a new element using Rikti materials and Earth chemicals as a basis. The product was a perpetual energy form known as Zeramite; a colony of self-replicating crystals. The downside was their high toxicity, a problem she constantly struggled to work around.
With her son, Zack, her rich husband and her scientific breakthroughs and good looks, Jennifer shared the limelight with her family, becoming a semi-celebrity in the scientific and financial circuit. Life was almost perfect and to her own eyes seemed to reward those who did good deeds in the world; her family donated and gave the gift of power and light to many downtrodden countries. Life was good, but her fortune was slipped from beneath her feet.
Crey Industries had set their sights on Starsoar’s new energy source. Dangerous or not, they wanted their hands on this most coveted and secret of research. Breaking into the laboratory, hi-powered plasma blasts broke the containment of the Zeramite, killing David instantly and coating Jennifer with the caustic material. Jennifer’s firsthand exposure should have killed her, but in a freak occurrence, the material bonded with her body. When she awoke, she was in a Crey facility, miles away.
Jennifer was held prisoner against her will, grilled for the information on her research and how to replicate. When she refused to meet their demands, they kept her prisoner by holding her son Zack as a bargaining chip. The threat of Zack’s death looming overhead like the sword of Damocles, Jennifer was forced to give them her research, working to replicate the experiments and research in their labs.
Jennifer’s body was coated in the green crystal, tight to her skin. An emerald weave grew from her very flesh, dangerous to those around her. When Jennifer finally gave up what she felt was the last of her secrets and could not deliver a solution, they decided to give Jennifer her son back, pinning her down in protective suits and throwing Zack into her arms. Jennifer was forced to watch her son melt in her own arms, dying painfully. The image killed what shreds of moral scope Jennifer had left.
A week later, Jennifer was awaiting execution. Utilizing a lull in the guard’s patterns, and her newfound condition, she broke free of her cell, killing one of the guards. Hi-jacking a suit of armor from deep below the facility, the suit lasted just long enough to free her from the facility and leave her with its remnants on the outskirts of The Rogue Isles.
Two years had passed, and over the course of that time, Jennifer plotted and planned. Carefully stealing and threading technology together, she created an inhibitor that allowed her to control her condition. She had her body back. Now in the position to work, she took the Crey powered armor designs, refining and retooling them to utilize her own strengths. With Zeramite as the fueling core, grown from her skin, she had a perpetual power source. She learned the intricacies, the mechanisms, the coding, and from the ground up from the Crey armor and three revisions later, she had designed her own powered armor suit.
With Zeramite as both a power source and a weapon, she broke into the scene, selling her skills to the highest bidder. With the memory of her family, especially her son, burning strong in her heart, she vowed vengeance on Crey Industries at all costs. Zeramite Lattice had been born
Suit Capabilities And Armament
Suit Capabilities and Armament Suit: ZLattice – Mark IV
Armor: Fully-encased Titanium plating with subdermal Riktanium nano-weave. Capable of enduring explosions, small arms fire and anti-tank weaponry. Derived and streamlined into an original design based on Crey specs. Suit is fully enviro-sealed with oxygen filtration, life support, recycling and medical fluids.
AI: Fully capable suite, providing up to date battle information, GPS, and targeting capabilities. Suit is capable of hacking a rival AI target and performing full data sweeps. Despite having no uniform personality, it is codenamed Proteus. Power Source and Interior: The interior of the Mk IV suit is lined with various plugs in pivotal power points that allow Jennifer to “grow” Zeramite from her skin and feed it directly into the suit. This acts as the suit’s primary power source. In addition, an auxiliary generator is built into the interior of the backplate.
Flight Capabilities: Hi-grade thrusters are embedded in the hands and boots of the suit, allowing variable flight speeds of up to Mach IV.
Weaponry And Defenses:
Hands and Forearm – Charon Cannon Mk. II – The Charon cannons are a set of variable plasma guns based on Crey designs. Built into the palm and forearm segments, they are capable of increased strength plasma bursts of energy. Focusing energy through an array of Zeramite crystals, the suit can yield greater blasts by utilizing varying sets of Zeramite ‘lenses.’ These act as the primary weapon of the suit. They can also be refracted into point blank bursts for melee attacks.
Fingertips, Chest, and Shoulders – V.Z.A. System (Variable Zeramite Assault) – Weaponizing Zeramite is the suit’s greatest and most dangerous of attacks. Through nanomachines and different chemical additives, Zeramite can be used in its raw form to encase targets in caustic geode formations, weaponized in a choking acidic cloud, burrowed deep into the ground in mass amounts to cause small, localized earthquakes and explosions, or even painfully root a target in its tracks.
Legs and Chest – V.Z. Shield – The variable shielding allows for brunt absorption of impacts through an exterior shield, increasing the protection and safety of the wearer.
Shoulders and Back – Orpheus Cannon (In Development) – An experimental weapon system meant to fully use and exhaust a massive amount of energy in a localized plasma burst. Completion status is still underway.
