Personal History

Stephanie was born in Paragon City, to a lower class family in King's Row. Blind since birth, she learned to adapt early on. She showed a strong independent streak early on, never wanting to be seen as needing special help, and resentful when she did. Her father, Max, worked in a King's Row warehouse, and her mother, Mari, taught in the local elementary school. During the first Rikti invasion her Mother was killed in the attacks while leading a field trip to the Freedom Phalanx's headquarters in what would become Boomtown. Her father did his best to support Steph and her older brother, but rising problems led Max Jr. to turn to the street gangs. He tried to work with the Skulls, acting as a lookout for a break in, but he lost his nerve when things got violent, and ran. The Skulls returned while he and Steph were together, and attacked them both. Stephanie was nearly killed by a baseball bat to the head, but rose up a moment later, dark energy coursing through and round her body. She attacked the Skulls in an almost primal way, driving them off. Beginning to realize her powers, and hungry to work off a lifetime of pent-up aggression, she hunted down the Skulls who had attacked them. Unkown to her, she had already caught the attention of Professor Lyrel, who followed and aided her. After they took out the Skull base and the authorities had carried them away, Lyrel invited Stephanie to join the Grae Academy.

The Hollows

While Stephanie began to learn about her powers at the Academy, it did not provide the violent outlet she was looking for. Stephanie spoke with and proved herself to one of her father's police friends, Vic Johansson, who not only gave her a police-band radio, but pointed her to David Wincott's Troll Task Force in the Hollows. Stephanie went to him, taking on the name Blindfold. Finally finding the outlet she had been looking for, and reveling in her newfound ability to be independent, she threw herself into the fight against the trolls, relishing the chance to beat down what she saw as the sorts of people who had always looked down on her. Blindfold made a name for herself in the Hollows, specifically among the Trolls, who began to send out groups to hunt her down.

Stephanie is a fairly average 15 year old girl, a little over five feet tall, with short, straight black hair and rather pale skin. She has an athletic build. Her eyes are a light but have a milky hue to them.

Blindfold has the inborn ability to act as a channel to the netherworld, a mystic land of the dead, and to wrap it's energies around her. These darkforce energies act as a shield for her, and also act as a source of damage to her opponents as the netherworld drains lifeforce and corrodes inanimate objects. Those damaged by the darkforce also find it impairing their own vision as the darkforce seeks out the eyes. Perhaps most importantly for Blindfold, she can use a less overt form of the darkforce to sense her surroundings, letting her in essence touch everything around her out to roughly eighteen feet. This givs her a radar like sense in a full circle around her.

Weaknesses and Limitations

Blindfold was born blind, and while her darkforce allows her to get a radar-like feel for an area by touching it, she still has no visual sense. She cannot read, utilize a monitor or tv, or sense anything in the purely visual realm. Her darkforce stops at solid objects, meaning glass and translucent objects are a barrier to this 'sight.'
