Daddy Dearest: Con Man
By all account Alexis was born with a silver spoon planted firmly in her mouth and into a life of luxury and comfort. Her father, Joel Meltzarin played the part of wealthy philanthropist, made rich from his dabbles in the stock market, perfectly. Her mother had been one of New York Cities most glamorous socialites until her untimely death from cancer a mere 3 years after Alexis was born.
Most saw Joel's treatment of his daughter as his own way of trying to help the girl past the loss of a mother she never knew. Alexis as a result was raised with everything her heart desired.
What most didn't know was that Daddy dearest wasn't quite the stock market guru he professed. Sure he knew the markets and made a fair bit of money through them, his original wealth came from a more base source, cons, swindles and outright thievery. Joel Meltzarin had conned and swindled the richest men in New York City and successfully black mailed them for their silence. What he couldn't con or swindle he stole as an extremely talented cat burglar. Alexis knew nothing of this, that was until her father's accidental death in a plane crash during a trip to Tahiti.
