History

Origin

Violet Starlight claims, and has been verified psychically, that she is from another dimension similar but different from our own. One our records indicate has not yet been found by Portal Corporation.

She is the daughter of Eric and Prudence Bardoux and grew up in Founder's Falls. She claims her family never wanted for money, and her father doted on her excessively. She never wanted for much and the parents of her friends always seemed to regard her as a close relative, taking care of her excessively on any sleepover.[2]

According to her, she was a solid B student, occasionally venturing into the A territory and never going lower than a B.[3] She graduated from Gaspee High School and was just ending a year off of school before going to college. She was accepted into Paragon University, but was undeclared as to a major because she says she hasn't found a passion outside of being a superhero.

When she was 11, three hooded men with knives and crossbows, and one bald man came out of the woods near her home, surrounded her and began to chant. As she saw green energy rising from them heading to her, she panicked and suddenly all four men found themselves unable to move. She ran straight home, screaming. She says that when she told her father about this, he left home looking very dark and didn't come back for several hours, and when he did he looked very calm and said to her that the problem was taken care of.

This near-sacrifice led her to immediately want to don a costume and go out and fight crime. Her mother interjected strongly against that and her father agreed, telling her that once she was able to drive and had her license she could try. This apparently did not appease her mother, but Angelica always listened to her father more.

And so she stuck in school, waiting for what seemed like an eternity until she turned 16 and got her license immediately. And unlike most girls in her class who were surprised with top of the line luxury cars at their 16th birthday, her father presented her with a set of reinforced armor that fit her perfectly. He said that he wanted it to be protective of her, and wanted her to not look as inappropriate as 'those other teenage heroines'.

As she grew in power and skill, she began to attract the attention of a variety of SuperGroups. At every invitation, she went home excited and begged her parents to let her join, but each time her father would not sway. In this she couldn't plead or puppy-dog eye and get him to change his mind. He wouldn't let her join any SuperGroups.[4]

Another odd thing she informed us that she has never been on a date let alone been in a relationship. She just shrugs it off as saying boys just weren't into her.[5]

She says that on the day that she was brought to our dimension, she and many other registered heroes were fighting the Warriors Gang, who she said came out of nowhere and were overrunning both Striga and Talos Islands. As she was fighting them she claims there was a great fire in the sky and then felt a great pulling sensation and she suddenly was in our universe.

Arrival

After getting here, she immediately headed to her house only to find people she didn't know living there. This, combined with the war walls and excess of criminals, led her to believe she had somehow come to a new dimension.

She found her way to an open public computer and looked up her family and was immediately disheartened by what she saw. Her mother had recently become an Anti-Mutant Activist, her father is an escaped convict and Angelica herself? There are many warrants out for her arrest.[6]

She didn't know what to do. And feeling lost and confused, she wandered the streets for a few minutes until she saw someone in desperate need of help. And instinctively, she went to arrest the gang trying to mug this person. As she went through her regular routine of increasing gravity, she reached out and managed to weaken them, increasing the radiation in the area. She doesn't know how she managed to gain the ability to irradiate people, but believes it was from her trip through dimensions[7].

She began flirting with the idea of going to City Hall and registering, but did not know if they would believe that she wasn't Crushing Violet in disguise. And so she, like many other heroes, hung around in front of City Hall in Atlas Park. She eventually approached an alien woman and struck up a conversation. This conversation with Twilight Harlequin led to her eventually getting a place to live and being brought into the All Star Teen Sentinels. Twilight Harlequin has given her her old apartment to live in.

Injuries of a Hero

She recently reported into G.I.F.T. that an unusual machine blew up when she was inside a Crey lab and since then she had been suffering from unusual pain from her bones. When the G.I.F.T. doctors looked her over, they saw there had been an buildup of radiation inside her body, and when comparing her blood to the samples taken from her when she arrived in this dimension, she was biologically 3 years younger. She did indeed look younger, and was about 2 inches shorter than she had been. It seems as if her radiation powers are making her younger.

She readily agreed[8] to be quarantined, as a safety precaution, until a cure can be found.

A cure was found within 3 weeks of quarantine[9]. Her powers have ceased having biological effects on her and she is ready to go out and fight crime again. And to safeguard against something similar happening in the future, we have taken various blood samples so we can use them to create a cure if a Crey machine does this again.[10]

She was attacked by some great being of hellfire recently, which destroyed her armor and nearly killed her. [11]She went a while without armor, barely going out and doing her duty, until she did a favor for the Midnight Society and they gave her a new set of armor that's mystically hardened.

And just recently, her fellow teammate, Saturn Miss ended up possessed by some psionic Council being. When Angie ran after her to confront her and find out what was up, the beast lashed out with a psychic attack, that blacked Angie out causing her to hit a wall while flying at high speeds, causing numerous bone fractures. De-Frag did some work to help patch her up immediately, until Zeiban and Misako showed up in the ASTS Med-bay to help her with more medical training. She was ordered bed-bound for a few weeks, with casts on her right leg and left arm. But just a few days later, a cured Saturn Miss came to Angie and shared some of her life essence with her, taking the wounds into herself and healing Angie.

Homesick

Ever since her last injury, Violet Starlight has missed several of our scheduled interviews. She has apparently been travelling dimensions, with the assistance and in the employ of Portal Corps, to find her home. Whether it was to return permanently or just so she could visit is unclear, but my conclusion is to return.

Recently things changed however. We have recorded her doing many cross dimensional trips, but it seemed more to accomplish certain goals rather than to explore. And she has been often seen in the company of the time-lost Danger Rose.

Personality

The impression we got of this young woman was someone who seems rather lost and gives off a little of a valley girl quality. Certain words seem to be almost a crutch for her, such as 'Like' and 'stuff'. She seems to easily be swayed by friendly behavior and gets concerned quickly over the trials of those she barely knows.

She often appears quite homesick and down. We don't know if it is just the seperation of her world that has brought upon a small depression, or whether it is something more.

Powers

Gravity Control

Like the Angelica Bardoux of this world, she shows some skill in manipulating gravity. Though it seems she is not as advanced as Crushing Violet, there is no sign that anything is holding back her ability. She just has yet to fully explore it.

Singularity

An interesting aspect is her recent ability to tear space-time herself, opening a conduit to the void between dimensions. This portal feeds her the radiation required to sustain her powers. Due to the harsh environment there, and the fact few superhumans (let alone humans) could survive there, she puts up an antigravity field upon opening that portal, letting it only have a way to feed her power. While it is up, she has shown the ability to greatly increase her attention in combat situations, using her powers on multiple targets.

Radiation Emission

While initially unsure how she came about an ability to create radiation and use it on others, it has since been revealed that it is some base radiation that lies between dimensions. It seems to us that it exists inside of her, as if she herself is some conduit or dimensional rupture. Due to her status as a permissible immigrant and hero in good standing we cannot do proper tests to figure out if this is true.

The radiation dies quickly after leaving her body, however, and seems to pose no danger to anyone around her.

Psionic Mastery

After an encounter on an Earth full of nothing but Psionic Clockwork, Angie has developed a psionic ability. Personally, I believe this is just another indication that her father was indeed just as much a psychic as the Eric Bardoux of this dimension. Her talents are rudimentary, more able to use her power to protect herself or to attack others. The finer skills of reading and manipulation have not yet come to her. But they may quickly soon, as her telepathic powers got ramped up after Saturn Miss shared her life essence with Angie.

Interestingly, she was very quickly able to combine her psychic ability with her gravitational attacks. We are unsure as of how it works. But given the ability she has that lets her create free-standing, and free-thinking (though doubtfully unsentient) singularities, we think that she can project her mind along a gravitational field. (( OOC: Her Holds do psychic damage along with smashing. And Psionic Tornado is RP'd as Lift + Mental Attack. ))

Major Differences Between Our Two Dimensions

Acquaintances

Shortly before coming to officially interview with us at City Hall, Violet Starlight had joined the All Star Teen Sentinels. The members she talks most positively about are Danger Rose, Twilight Harlequin, Bodkin-Girl and Saturn Miss. She has confessed feeling rather awkward when talking to some of the single male members of the ASTS, due to how complimentary they can be with her. [13]

She also has an alien kitten-like creature named Ji'Ma she takes care of, given to her by Twilight Harlequin.

End Notes

  1. Visitor from an Alternate Dimension. Four-Thousandth One Hundred and Seventy-Second recorded visitor.
  2. Possibility of her Father intervening on her behalf?
  3. This is non-suspicious to the point of being suspicious. This reality's Angelica Bardoux only got as high as C. Difference in intelligence due to domestic life, or another possible intervention by her father? Addendum: Our Psi Testing indicates no psychic meddling in Violet Starlight's mind. We believe this means no extraneous personalities were created and thus we can't compare her intelligence to that of Crushing Violet's as they are, in essence, two completely different people.
  4. It is this statement that most to me calls out that the fortune her family had in her universe was by the same scam Eric Bardoux tried in ours. He must have never been discovered to be a psychic.
  5. This is the most peculiar. In my opinion she is rather attractive. And what father would not want to keep his teenage daughter from dating?
  6. See Longbow Amended Report: #V1729318: Crushing Violet
  7. We believe that this may tie into the fact that the Angelica Bardoux from this dimension has recently turned into a star. How it effects Violet Starlight is beyond my reasoning.
  8. Too readily. We didn't expect her to agree without a strong argument.
  9. A quarantine she broke twice on record. Some things are too similar, even with whole dimensions supposedly differentiating them.
  10. One of the blood samples have already gone missing. She is not to be told.
  11. We believe this to be the Angelica Bardoux of this dimension, but we cannot ascertain whether this is so. Violet Starlight does not know who attacked her, or why.
  12. We don't know why this is important.
  13. Recent interviews seem to indicate she has gotten more shy around members of the opposite sex, rather than less as we had expected.
