Personality
Patriot of Paragon's identity is not secret in his home dimension, but he tries to keep it secret here because he does not know if the same is true about Statesman. Known both as Marcus Cole and The Patriot of Paragon, he gradually became more Patriot of Paragon than Marcus Cole, and over his nearly 80 years of heroism his private and public self became increasingly different, although he kept his private self private except to his closest friends and allies. He is old-fashioned and courteous and, though he has a sense of humor, he will only display it in private. He feels a certain amount of legend has accumulated surrounding him, and tries his best every day to live up to the "Patriot of Paragon" persona that he has created-- one that is almost inhumanly moral. It is not always easy, but his deeds and attitude towards heroism have made him an inspiration to his fellow Heroes. In truth, it is not that he naturally a beacon of morality; it is something he strives to be, an obsession. He would never be able to forgive himself if he were ever to betray the enormous amount of trust engendered to him by the public and his peers. He has faced murderers and tyrants, and for every time they broke free from prison and committed murder, it grew increasingly difficult for him to suppress his anger towards them.
Character History
(Under construction) In one infamous act in the mid 90s, Patriot of Paragon broke his rule of never killing a foe when he punched the deranged murderer known as Jackal so hard that it killed him. Though he attested he did not intend to kill Jackal, he admitted that his anger was so intense that he knew it would be a possibility when he punched him. He publically announced that he was retiring and denounced his powers, willingly surrendering them to an Ansari crystal, a magical relic capable of absorbing magical abilities, and then shattering it with a hammer. ---
