Personality

Powers

Steelcat's robotic body incorporates some very advanced self repair systems as well as a set of Impervium claws built into each hand (paw).

Abilities

When one translates the skill of a cat upwards to a human size, it's actually quite terrifying; Steelcat moves, even despite his metallic frame, in almost complete silence. He has an almost incredible sense of timing, unending patience, and a sense of smell that rivals the most sophisticated tracking animals.

Since all of these are dependent on brain coordinating with body, it's evident that whoever crafted the mould of Steelcat did so with a great deal of effort; he's clearly an incredibly sophisticated device, designed to carry many of his feline skills over to his android form.

Weaknesses and Limitations

Character History

Steelcat's story begins with the mad scientist, Dr. Burnstrom. The Doctor had, in a bid to increase his already formidable intellect, developed a 'Neural Augmentation Device'. Because the Doctor was as thorough as he was mad, he made many prototypes and tested them rigorously on 'expendable subjects' - namely, alley cats collected from the streets of Kings Row. During the final stage of testing, however, his lab was raided by the PPD. Though he himself escaped, his equipment was seized, including the one remaining test subject; a bedraggled tomcat with a cybernetic brain and the ability to talk.

Unfortunately the experimentation had taken its toll on the tom's body, and his days seemed numbered. Thanks to the actions of one of the PPD officers, though, he was offered up for 'adoption' to any fully-accredited Supergroup that agreed to do what they could to save the cat's life. Dr Marian Shepherd responded almost immediately, and the cat was soon welcomed into Project Corona. To save his life the cat's brain (with Neural Augmentator) was removed from his devastated body and placed into a robotic body that also serves as a life-support system. Developed and built by the Junk Giant, the robotic body also incorporated a number of combat systems and an advanced self-repair web. This allowed the cat to participate in the Project's heroic endeavors, where he has taken to calling himself 'Steelcat'.
